A/N: Introducing Boring!Orli!
One day, Orli woke up. The ceiling was white. The corner above the door where ceiling and walls met was a bit grimy and not as white as the rest of the ceiling. The door was white, too, but a different white from the ceiling, more eggshell, while the ceiling was off-white.
Orli got up and walked into the kitchen. He looked at the clock. "Oh, it's only seven a.m." He opened the cupboard door, got out a pack of Tetley's, pressed the button on the kettle (he had purposely filled it with just the right amount of water for one mug the evening before), took a mug from one of the hooks underneath the hanging cupboard, dropped the teabag in the mug and waited for the kettle to boil.
He waited.
He waited.
He waited.
The fridge shuddered and went, "Hoohoohm."
He waited.
He waited.
The red light on the bottom part of the kettle went off. Steam issued from the spout.
Orli picked up the kettle and poured all the water into the mug. It rose exactly to half an inch below the rim of the mug. Orli replaced the empty kettle in its kettle-holder.
He opened a drawer, took out a teaspoon and swirled the teabag around in the water. The water turned brown.
Orli opened the fridge. He took a quart carton of milk out of the door compartment and placed it next to the mug. He put his bare left foot on the pedal bin's pedal, levered the teabag out with the teaspoon and dropped the teabag into the bin.
A drop of tea splashed on Orli's toe. He took the wipe cloth hanging on the kitchen sink mixer tap, bent down and wiped his toe.
Then he unscrewed the lid of the milk and started pouring.
The milk had curdled!
Orli stared at the label.
The use-by date was three weeks prior!
The milk stank!!
The milk left a foul spiral blob on top of the tea!!!
Orli shrugged. He twisted his mouth. He wrinkled his nose. He dumped the blobby milk into the sink.
He rinsed the sink with lukewarm water from the mixer tap. He helped the milk blob to disappear down the plug hole, using the dish brush. When the water had become quite hot, Orli squeezed a drop of dishwashing detergent into the mug and scrubbed it with the brush. He rinsed the mug for several seconds.
He wiped down the sink with the wipe cloth. He dumped the milk into the pedal bin.
He filled the mug with water to exactly half an inch below the rim. He decanted the water into the kettle.
He pressed the kettle's 'on' button.
He opened the kitchen cupboard and got out another Tetley's teabag. Holding the teabag in his right hand, he waited for the water to boil.
He waited.
He waited.
A drop of water fell from the mixer tap's mouth into the sink.
He waited.
He waited.
He waited.
