Today I wrote 6,157 words! I am not on track; I am over track. And I have finally cracked it. Read more... )
Because regency is not about the regency (the actual historical period). It is about a fanon. With the historical period being the canon.

Total written in November: 35,166 words. Pivot happened at: 22,249 words. Note to future: it apparently takes me that many words to discover my stride.

I shall now walk the cavapoochon and then watch Northanger Abbey (2007) for some more regency fanon.

This is probably lodged somewhere in DW's cross-post archive but I found it again last week and want to re-archive it for myself.

I know that it seems as if I'm not writing DP because I post so rarely but for a few weeks, I actually have been writing as well as thinking very hard about the story of DP. It's moved in all sorts of directions I never thought it would; it's branched out in a way that I'm starting to suspect only an AU will (and perhaps origfic will be like that? Because what is origfic but AU?).

Not having seen Velvet Goldmine for 3 days running, I needed my fix of girl-porn tonight so indulged in my 4th viewing of t'film. It must be love.

I had some more thoughts!

Narrative structure in VG plus random (or not so random) droolings -- and exactly how long can one make these lj-cut tags, can they go on forever or what? )

Also, I forgot to mention for the benefit of [livejournal.com profile] badgermonkey and all other ELFs, that there is of course a *Wainthropp moment* in the film! Yes, knitwear, tweed hat and moustachioed elderlyness makes an appearance, hand on knee and all!!!!

I met [livejournal.com profile] ukcalico for lunch today and we talked about that book "Theorizing Fandom" and then proceeded to theorise fandom ourselves. She has such interesting things to say about popslash, and the history of fandoms. And this'll have been the last time I'll have seen her in Cambridge (good lord, what happened to the tenses in that sentence?).

I miss her already!

Anyway, I immediately had more musings on the way home in the car )

While everyone else has been waiting for their copies of HP to arrive, I was excited to get the phone call from Heffers to tell me that my copy of Theorizing Fandom , edited by Cheryl Harris and Alison Alexander, had arrived!

random fandom musings )

Thank you so much, [livejournal.com profile] girloftheq, for alerting me to this gem! When will I be able to read your essay?

I don't do rpgs and I have only ever done txt-collabs (and a short office collab with [livejournal.com profile] badgermonkey but I did have some thoughts about these things half an hour ago.

on collabs and rpg )<lj user="shinysparkly"). If it's too easy to see the seams and the individuals' takes, as in many rpgs that later get posted, it doesn't work for me in creating that narrative world.
