Thank you to the kind souls who wished me well during my recent bout. Considering that I used to have bouts of depression that lasted one year and I am now down to one weekend, that must surely be counted as some sort of progress or improvement, right?

*feels relieved*

Also, [livejournal.com profile] blythely has been posting a rather interesting thread about buggery and anatomy. Now here's my take on this: I am not in fiction for the real life. I do not care how real gay men position themselves or where bums are positioned vis-a-vis cocks and mouths and pretzels. What I have loved about slash from the very first (and it intrigued me at first), is its shameless and irreverent disregard for the realities of homosexuality.

They cook for each other all day long? Great! They call each other 'love' and 'dear' and 'angel'? Yay. They are bizarrely chaste and possessive and shlepp home strangers picked up in a public loo only to make their angsty repressed OTP others jealous? Hooray. They fuck face-to-face like two het ducks in a rut? Whee!!!

I mean, what are we talking about here? Is this fanfic, or is this a documentary on the kama sutra of arse fucking?

The former, I believe. So: put the fan back into fantasy, free the squee and trumpet silly slogans! Hey, embrace the beagle! (For those among you who even remember the beagle!!! Ah, the joys of fannish insiderdom.)

Note: The above is not to be taken as an endorsement of bad!fic. But bad!fic is bad because it is bad fiction not because it is unreal fiction.

P.S. Great thing about HP fandom? Anatomy-shmatomy: it's magic, right!! Great thing about lotrips? Dom, Orli, John Noble -- need I say more? Anyway, elves have prehensile penises, a little like chamaeleon's tongues; everyone knows that, and that enables incredible Gimli-Legolas fuck-combinations to prevail.
