SGA rec helenish

There's always a certain quirky something about Helenish's stories, and a sharp edge, plus ladlefuls of swoony lovingness, plus the men are always men and the dialogue is always so snappy and allusive.
This story is very hot. And it also fills me with that delicious cocoa-warm slashy delight.
What I really liked here and what surprised me and had me thinking 'where is this going to go??' was that the story started with the sex. This is not a spoiler because the very first line is They’d fucked once, in Rodney's pile of blankets in Ford’s hideout, six feet from the dismantled wraith dart, but John didn’t think about it much after.. So many stories end with the sex (which is fine by me, too) but this one had it in the very first sentence, and all no-nonsense which I loved, and so it was clear fairly soon that this was not going to be finding-sex arc but something else.
Her dialogue is just the kind of dialogue I love: people never saying what they mean; people talking in slightly stilted, theatrical fashion; people being excruciatingly embarrassed about even saying anything at all but forging ahead, anyway, in a sort of dizzy jumping-over-the-cliff boldness but often jumping over the wrong cliff.
