Holidays: Mixed. Landscape lovely if at times a wee rustic. Nîmes and Montpellier very elegant towns. Weather hot and sunny!!! (England = rain and bloody cold.) Company: problematic.
OLYMPICS!!! Here's an observation from the holidays in Provence: French television is shit. I have had only two days of BBC coverage of the Olympics and it has been as water to a parched desert. I have been lapping it all up, even the boring, last-two-days events, all of it!! The French show only the French of any event, only live coverage during the day, only a one-hour 'highlights' programme in the evening (of the French), and a constant babble-babble of rubbish commentators. They don't take the sports seriously! *weeps*
I wonder how my countrypeople have been covering the Olympiade?
I love the Olympics with an addict's love. I weep every time somebody wins a medal, stands on a podium, doesn't win a medal, comes from a poor country with no facilities, comes from a poor country AND wins a medal, is a cool dude like USAIN BOLT, is a veiled woman from Bahrain!!, is a weeping camp diver from Thydney, holds up a photo of his dead wife during the medal ceremony as a gold-medal weightlifter. Basically, the Olympics is normally one big long weepfest for me. Also: I love seeing the HAPPY PEOPLE! When they've just won something, they just look so phenomenally happy!
I love seeing the whole world's people and all those beautiful, strong bodies, and all those women doing stuff that many could not have done 50 years ago, and in some countries even 10 years ago, and in some countries not even now!
Has there been Olympics slash? A cursory search revealed none but I've not been online a lot; I've been surgically attached to the TV screen!
SGA cancelled? Is that like JKR finishing her last Harry Potter installment? And did Curse of the Hallows (or whatever it's called) kill of the HP fandom??
Lo, at the moment, unbidden, I am back into HP. How... how something. Perhaps it's all that Olympic boxing? It reminded me of my darling's darling.
