girlsmut achievement
Jul. 1st, 2002 06:47 pmA quick peek into LJ and then, alas, back to lurkdom.
I was very, very naughty today because instead of editing my rl book non-stop all day, I veered towards my unfinished-fics folder and opened my ancient girlslash fic (or should that be womanporn?), which has been gathering mould since the end of March. And then I finished it in under an hour! Am amazed at self.
Oh, the sense of achievemen!! And the sense of horrible guilt as it sinks in: now I need to do all of the rl editing tomorrow, and that means back to LJ-exile, sigh.
How I figured out how to write girlsmut:
1.
demelzagirl went there first, and that was inspiration.
2.
mcee started the lotr-girlslash group, and that was motivation.
3. I realised what has been causing my girl-writer's block. I had done all this research and was worrying about background, plot and emotions. That's what I like with the boysmut: emotions, angst, awkward cuteness, dialogue, detail, dolphins, wasabi paste. And it just wasn't happening with the gals. And then I realised: with the gals, I had to take the emotions back out and just go for some unproblematic, smutty PWP. So I just went off and had a nice little wank, and that was the sum total of research I needed for this particular fic, *g*.
So: another hurdle cleared, another fic with the beta, another obstacle surmounted in the slashy adventure of my 2002!
(Maybe I'll even manage women-plus-plot one of these days!)
The upside of girlsmut: No lurkdom on gay websites or in gay sections of bookshops necessary. Anatomy explains itself.
The downside: A certain embarrassment factor. Still, that can probably be got over with practice. But also: No boys mucking about with other boys. No manly men mauling the pretty. And no Karl Urban.
