LJ Friends survey
Oct. 11th, 2002 03:02 pmGacked from
cinzia who got it from
darkie:
01. Your live journal "user name" & what it means:
lobelia321: Lobelia is the wonderful feisty Lobelia Sackville-Baggins (see my User Profile for heroic details), resident of Hobbiton, hubstand to Otho, mother to Lotho, distant cousin to Tamaranth and all-round nag but, latterly, heroine. The '321' is just there because 'Lobelia' by itself was already taken.
02. on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how well does your livejournal represent who you actually are?
This raises the philosophical and psychological question: how do I know who I really am? Are there not many facets to the 'self'? Some of these facets are in lj 100 percent, others 0 percent, others are there indirectly. Some may be there subconsciously. Also, is there a self before the expression of the self? So do I not come into being in the very act of communicating via text onto this computer screen? Is the self post-modernly fluid, fluent and unfixed? Or reassuringly fixed and immutable, parts of which I can offer up for delectation on lj and others which I hide deep inside forever...???
Upshot: this question cannot be answered on a scale of 1-10.
03. how much about your life do you post to lj?
This depends on how one wants to define 'my life'. There are the rl aspects of work, career, research, marriage and motherhood of which I post next to nothing. Then there are the imaginative-life aspects which, at times, eat up my brain and take up more space and energy than the rl: of those, I post virtually everything. And the things I don't post, only because I can't be on-line 24/7.
04. is there anything you refuse to post about?
Details about my nuclear family that are close to their bones. Details about my rl research and work. Anything that would upset any of my LJ Friends (unless done inadvertently or evilly on purpose, *cackles*).
05. on a scale of 1-10 how interesting do you think your own journal is to others?
Well, prior to the Evil Little Fandom, probably 4. But now that I have opportunistically hitched my wagon to that of
demelzagirl it's probably shot up to +13. Because nobody can withstand the power of Wainthropp!
06. from who/how did you find out about lj?
Ages ago,
verylisa mentioned it to me. I was very puzzled and thought, oh, that's so not me. Then, of course, the evil temptress
viva_gloria appeared out of nowhere and lured me with promises of "interior decorating"! *glares at Gloria*
07. has anyone ever joined lj because of you?
I think I've influenced
quiseyes,
perhobfan,
natasha1805,
pecos, [Unknown site tag] and
cinzia -- but in the end, half of these were actually entrapped by
viva_gloria, mistress of the lure.
08. what proportion of your posts are friends only?
Haven't counted recently and am not going to bother counting and doing pocket-calculator calculations now. Not all that many.
09. what is your favorite interest on lj?
Slash. Sex. What the Friends have to say (which tends to be about slash and sex).
10. has anything on lj ever caused you to establish, rethink, or even change your belief or position on something?
Nope. Can't think of anything. I think I've changed my opinion on people but not on things. *thinks* Nope, still can't think of anything. (This is terrible. Am I that immutable???)
11. how often do you respond/comment on other peoples journals?
A few times per day. Or rather: some days not at all, then in spammy bee-poo spurts. Depends on whether aol lets me.
12. do you prefer to write in your journal, read other journals?
Both! I like to respond, too! I like to scatter that bee-poo! Mostly I tend to read and comment.
13. have you ever had something mean said to you or been stalked, harassed, or got into an argument/flame war on lj (or did it to someone else)?
I once had an anonymous comment that annoyed me mildly but if I witness flaming going on, I zap the person from the Friends list and never have to look at it again. I find if you're polite to people, they are generally polite in return. (very un-German, I know, but 12 years in Britain have taken their toll)
14. have you ever banned someone from your journal?
I've zapped them from my Friends list but not banned them from Friending me.
15. who are your favorite lj friend(s) and why?
Oh, well, that would violate the points above, about being polite and about not upsetting the Friends! They will know, anyway! *winks*
16. how many of your LJ friends have you actually met?
4. I've also met some people who are not on my actual Friends list.
17. of all of the people on lj you know of, who is the most like you?
Gads. A lot of them have a bit of me, and probably the ones who have most are the ones who veil their rl in mystery so I wouldn't know!
demelzagirl has the live-in Y-chromosome and the literary and wainthroppian interests;
eyebrowofdoom has the significatory practices;
pecos has the hubster;
freyafloyd has the kiddie-pops.
viva_gloria has the passion about writing but in all other respects she is quite different from me as she actually, despite protestations to the contrary, has a life (which I try to live vicariously as much as I can).
18. why are you most likely to add someone to your friends list?
I read a story by them and love it. Someone recs them to me.
19. do you automatically add friends to your journal if they add you first?
Nope. I very rarely check to see who has added me. That would mean scrolling down.
20. what is the most likely reason you wouldn't add someone to your friends list?
I've never heard of them. Their stories are execrable.
21. is your "significant other" on lj?
Oh goodness gracious me, no. (Well, that depends on definitions again, because, of course, my two lovely fiancees are on LJ!!! The above question should not be phrased in the singular; displays a very limited outlook on these matters.)
22. have you ever wanted to meet someone on lj?
Yes. And I have! And I will!!!
