fic survey
Nov. 24th, 2002 11:03 pmI just took
jenfr's fic survey:
Only one fic allowed per question so this was very, very hard. And I feel guilty towards all my other little chicklets for having left them out. (Because I have a tender spot for all my little darlings.)
1. What is your favorite of your own fics (the one dearest to your heart) in this fandom?
Up Shit Creek.
Because it was daggy!Karl and it had an atmospheric landscape that contributed to the plot and it had a humourous and consistent tone of voice (angry Billy) and because it didn't sentimentalise sex.
2. What do you think is the best fic you've written in this fandom?
When We Are Human.
I get depressed by this story, actually, because I think I can never reach those heights again.
3. What do you think is the most underrated fic you've written in this fandom?
Larks and Nightingales.
But I think it's probably deservedly underrated.
and an anti-rec question, as it were, per request of mcee:
4. What do you think is the most overrated fic you've written in this fandom?
Past Imperfect.
This is a very difficult decision. I think other fics of mine are worse but they got less feedback than this one. I loved this story when I first posted it but now I've gone off it, mainly because the hubster doesn't like it and gave me lots of reasons why not. Hence, a difficult answer because I feel I'm betraying myself and the people who did like it.
5. What was your breakthrough fic?
Additional question added by me because I did not want to leave this particular story out as it has been so important to me.
A Perfect Day. Because that was the first time I tried out something new with style and really went out on a limb with language and words. I haven't looked back since: I think it changed the way I write and the way I think about writing in a fundamental way. I remember feeling at the edge of a cliff about it and very unsure of myself; now this kind of writing has become second nature.
