I love ep 10 so much. Spoilers: It hurts me to watch it but it is so incredibly well done. Rewatching it today, I noticed the parallelisms. Stede has a support crew: Mary, Doug, his children, the widow Evelyn, the carriage driver. All these people help him to find who he is and go forth in confidence. Ed has Izzy as his support, and he repudiates the others he has, so he does not go forth in confidence but is diminished. The Mary / Izzy parallelism is exquisitely done. The timing punches you in the gut. The emotional climax in this ep comes when Stede says to Mary "His name is Ed" (goosebumps, heart swells, I just want to embrace Stede -- and Mary does!). Cut to Ed letting go the red kerchief and throwing Lucius overboard. This is such a cruel cut. This is such an extraordinary cut. The editing is impeccable, brilliant, heartwrenching.
