I saw seven stage plays, incl. 2 pantos.
  • The Barber of Seville and The Pirates of Penzance at Wilton's Music Hall;
  • Nye at the National Theatre;
  • Spirited Away at the ENO;
  • The Duchess of Malfi at the Trafalgar Theatre;
  • Cinderella at the Arts Theatre;
  • and Napoleon at Jermyn Street.)

I went to one music concert. (London African Gospel Choir at the Barbican)

I visited art museums and art galleries at least 20 times, incl. 11  temporary exhibitions.  I visited 16 separate venues in 7 different cities. They were:

  • Städel, Frankfurt am Main
  • Fitzwilliam Museum (Paris and Sport 1924, Botticelli, new main galleries, Glenn Ligon)
  • Tate Modern (The Expressionists)
  • Prinzenpalais Oldenburg (incl. Perspektivenwechsel)
  • Landesmuseum Alte Meister, Oldenburg

I saw 2 comedy shows. (The Cryptid Factor at the King's Place in London, and John Finnemore at the Cambridge Junction.)

I saw one opera at the cinema (the Royal Opera's Marriage of Figaro).

I went to one author reading event (Waterstone's Piccadilly).

I visited many public sculptures in Germany during my sabbatical trips:
  • Rostock: Margarethe Scheel's public sculptures and reliefs in Rostock
  • Dresden: Ilse Plehn's war memorial in the Annenfriedhof; Margarete Moeschke-Poelzig's Mosaikbrunnen
  • Stadt Wehlen: Lucie Prussog's relief on the Robert-Sterl-Haus
  • Upper Franconia, Naila: Ilse Plehn's Trauernder Krieger
  • Upper Franconia, Bad Steben: Kurpark, Skulpturenpfad
  • Thuringia: Ebersdorf, Bucha, Göschitz, Taubenpreskeln, Aga - Lisa Simcik-Kroemer's war memorials
  • Thuringia: Schloßpark Weimar, Erfurt Cathedral
  • Frankfurt am Main: Frauenfriedenskirche
  • Esslingen: Südkirche
  • Diksmuide, Belgium: Vladslo German War Cemetery, Käthe Kollwitz's war memorial
