He went to a Maris Brothers boarding school and was always very tall and skinny. He used to do acting at school and he was always cast in the female parts. One year he acted Nurse McGuiver, the next year a saloon girl. But he found that he was always more interested in all the "cool stuff" around him.
Omg, I am so dead.
Boarding schools! Saloon girls! Richard in a starched white uniform!

EDIT: Just saw some more. He used to sculpt margarine sculptures at restaurants when he was a student in Wellington.
