Oh, this is beautiful. My insides are still sighing from the loveliness of this fic.

It's Cimorene's Two wishes . It's Karl and Viggo in Japan. I love the evocation of detail of place and the atmospheric prose, subjective and objective observations flowing into and out of each other. The ending is breathtaking.

It's here: http://www.rightthisway.net/cimorene/tolkien/twowishes.html

*smiles*

You know, even your recommendations are beautifully written :D

Thank you for pointing this one out. I'll go read it now. It's been too long since I've last read something by Cimorene. This story will no doubt result in a lot of rereading.

Thank you, dearie! :)

Cimorene does it for me every time. Well, not quite every time; it's almost a relief to read some of her not-that-fantastic stuff because most of her fics are the kind of stuff that makes my spine stiffen and my thoughts go, right, well, *I've* got a long way to learn...

I also really love her "Time" (Gimli/Aragorn) and "Delirium" (Lij/Dom). Plus the fic that started it all for me: "Tennessee".

I tried *so* hard to like this fic, but the complete utter making up of Karl's son's name threw me off so badly that I couldn't really enjoy it.

It's beautifully written, but a little bit of research would have made all the difference.

Yes, okay, I grant this. She also makes up the Ashley figure. But I guess I forgave that because the rest was *emotionally* true. And, er, I'm not only making up names for Karl's offspring but changing their number, sexes and mothers as well.... *hides head under pillow*

Just put a disclaimer up & I'll try to look past it. *winks*

Well, you're the one who once said "If I want to put Karl and Harry on the moon, I can - it's fiction!"

*grins*

I suppose what's getting your goat is the fact that there's no disclaimer so that it's the difference between knowing and deliberately ignoring, and not knowing. But then I read it at her website and nobody *has* to put Headers on fics at their own personal website.

Yes, it's fiction, but it's based on real people. We've had this discussion, haven't we? That we're still working within those perameters. Not like everyone out there doesn't know that Sean's been married three times or that Viggo has a son, etc. These are facts, much like the movies they've starred in. Hunter's name is just another fact. If you're going to blatantly *change* this fact, state so.

Eh, late night ramblings, must sleep...
