Oh my fucking god.

[livejournal.com profile] badgermonkey was right: I needed floorpadding for this one (due to the falling-off-chair factor).

I literally had to wipe my screen down with my shirt sleeve twice because of the literal *snorts*.

Dom's 18 favourite things about Billy

Hm, I seem to be rather late in discovering this...

*bursts into yet more uncontrollable chuckles*

Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt indeed!!!! *snorts helplessly yet again*

i read that - it was just way too funny! and the bit where Dom says, if Billy were a girl, he'll marry him right away! WHAH!

Yes! And the fucking filtrum!

Not it's spelled correctly in the bit I read, anyway. It is, of course, philtrum. But then, am amazed enough that he's bothered to find out the technical term. And we all know the badger's spelling abilities. Muwahahha...

*cackles hysterically*

Isn't it just hilarious? They are my Dom and Billy. Mine, forever, even if I am never going to write about them!

And Dom is so amazingly cute about Billy. He just gushes. It's delightful. (Ah, it seems I get more joy from fandom if I just dip in once a month or so.)

I don't think dipping in is all that funny. Au contraire, it is eminently sensible. I get some fun bits, something to smile at, and then I go away and get on with my life in a normal manner. OK, so getting on with my life has today mostly involved eating sausage rolls in the staffroom, but it's the principle that counts.

Funny you should ask about how I see my ficwriting days, because I have started to get *squicked* by the idea of RPS. Like a switch has been flicked that makes it Not OK Any More. Weird. Although I don't feel all moral about it or anything, but just oddly grossed out sometimes. And then I read something like that and I can totally see the appeal once again. I never said I was consistent.

This is interesting. So are you squicked by your *own* stories?

From: [identity profile] badgermonkey.livejournal.com
I have *always* been squicked by my own stories, hence the non-smuttiness of most of them, when you look closely.

I do find them quite difficult to read.

So what made you write them???

The fact I am a mess of contradictions and make no sense even to myself? It's odd, really, I started reading slash because of the smut, then when I started writing, it was all about that, too, mostly, but as I liked the people more I found it was more because of the relationships, and the smut was something I found myself less comfortable with. And so now I don't really like the idea of the NC-17 stuff, and although I still like things like this interview where the relationship is actually *real*, I feel less at ease with the fictional side, even my own writing. I don't regret writing RPS at all, but I don't want to read it again much. But then, I never really liked reading my own stuff anyway. I certainly don't miss reading other people's stuff, of any fandom, and I don't have a clue why that should be. Maybe I'm just too busy, plain and simple, and if I ever get more enforced leisure time like in my stude days I'll go back to it, who knows?

It's interesting that you *wrote* your stuff but then didn't want to *read* it. So was the writing-mindset quite different from the reading-mindset?

I've had periods where I stopped reading fanfic and did not miss it one iota. So that I don't find strange. And I've had periods where I stopped writing. But since these periods all coincided with my a) depressions and b) my Karl/Dom epic, they had a peculiar flavour to them. Because I interpreted everything in the light of the depression. And because K/D was always on the backburner, smouldering away even when I wasn't writing it. Who knows what will happen once it's actually posted? At the moment, I can't bring myself to write anything else. All other pairings fade to dust, and the K/D pairing has become so much my own devising and so peopled with origchars, that it verges on origfic (or should that read 'obsessific'?)

I had a novel devouring period where I read and read but not fanfic but real fic. At the moment, I'm bored with my novels; the ones I've got seem as bad as bad!fic and tedious.

The m/m factor with me goes way, way back and way, way deep so I suspect that no matter what will happen fandomwise, I will always be interested in the boy-on-boy action. In whatever guise.

OK, more gushings. What strikes me is how *physical* Dom's favourite things are. OK, take your average man (e.g. the BF): would he, if asked for 18 favourite things about his best mate, list around 10 anatomical details? Hair, eyes, philtrum for god's sake?????

*dies*

It's this type of thing.... it keeps the addict coming back.

Now what do you reckon were his favourite things about *Derek Benfield*?????

Heh. Now this made me snort. I can't believe you mentioned DB's nipples above. Surely some mistake as he cannot possibly have nipples, the thought is too terrible to contemplate.

13. His allotment. And, more importantly, his shed.
14. Very popular in Germany.
15. Makes good tea.

What the heck, let's just lump the Derek-characteristics and the Mr W-characteristics into one. Am losing track.

And D's nipples, heheh. Well, *you* may find them too awful to contemplate, but surely not Dom...

*grins squickily*

Heehee, if you are now squickable, I am going to enjoy the coming weeks and months.

Oh, I am so tempted to do this as a kind of comparison. Although I did hear the BF call his best friend "honeybun" ont he phone, so I don't know...

Oh, a test! Yes, will unobtrusively weave this into in-front-of-television conversation.

Hahha!

Ooh, and the hubster did call one of his mates 'duckie' for the longest time.

Also, when he, ahem, did the purity test, he scored 49 out of 50 on the 'alternative object choice' section, i.e. stuff he's done with *men*.

He refused to enter into any discussion about this, though. Only said 'yes' or 'no' (well, 'yes', mostly, as it turned out). I was forbidden to ask questions.

I know with *whom*, though....

Oh! There's even more here. Choice quote: "Billy's got a great fear of heights that he just doesn't question. I'm very scared of heights too, and when we went to do this bungee jump, I said to him, "We're going to conquer our fear of heights. Come on, that's what we'll do. We'll do a bungee jump, and then you can always say you did it." And Billy was like, "No. I'm afraid of heights and that's the type of person I am, and that's what I'm sticking to." I like that!"

I just discovered this today! (she says after excitedly replying in the wrong journal).

A friend posted the beginning in her journal, and I started reading it thinking it was a fic! My immediate thoughts? Well, this is quite good, but a bit over the top... I mean, filtrum?

And then I realised it was real!

You thought it was a fucking fic? *screams*

I can see it! I can see that! This is priceless.

But philtrum (he misspelled it, of course, or the editors didn't do their homework, because it is PH not F), yes! Yes!

It's a day later and I'm still bamboozled. And kind of shocked that the reality should be so perilously close to our hot-headed fantasy lands! It's disturbing!!!!! I am *disturbed* by the fact that Dom notices Billy's *physicality*!
