gabbyhope wanted recs, so here is a rec."Tounga" and "Dama" by Issa Bagayogo (from Mali); on his "Timbuktu" CD
I have listened to his CDs and especially to these two tracks so many countless times you'd think I'd be sick of them but they touch me emotionally every single time and cheer me up. I just adore this type of music: World Music plus something poppy, lyrics I don't understand (well, actually, I would *love* someone to translate the lyrics for me), intricate things done with instruments and vocals and sound effects, and just two gorgeous melodies.
