T'hubster is out tonight so here's the plan. (I prepared for this earlier on in the day by racing to HMV and buying two DVDs: Velvet Goldmine, recced by slashbabes, and Monkey's Mask, recced by self and purchased in quest of John Noble and Marton Csokas (it also features lesbian plot, so is intriguing all round).

Plan

  • Microwave instant meal
  • Fill dishwasher and turn it on while instant meal is microwaving
  • Tidy living room during remaining microwave time
  • Fetch recliner and washing from garden (viz. one sequinny velvety T-shirt and one 62-pound bra - oh, btw, which I flashed at slashbabes on Sunday -- just in case you hear this story in a different version, and it was *only* to demonstrate perfect fit of expensive lingerie)
  • Mix g&t.
  • Carry blanket, instant meal, drink and DVD into front room; arrange self on sofa; insert Velvet Goldmine into slot
  • Yell at children to fall asleep
  • Watch DVD
  • Pause DVD, fetch chocolate trifle dessert from fridge
  • Pig out and watch rest of DVD
  • Repair upstairs and write Malta!fic, using notes made earlier in the day
  • Try very, very hard not to look at LJ

Because if latter agenda item fails, the plan will look like this:

  • Do LJ.
  • Starve.

That's what it says in the description. And one of the lesbians is Kelly McGillis! And the other one a certain Susie Porter.

I will report once seen!

That is a most excellent plan, especially the trifle dessert bit. I enjoyed that.

And Velvet Goldmine is indeed a brilliant movie, if only because you get to see Ewan's willy for, like, a long time! And he bounces! And kisses pretty boys! And acts like Iggy Pop!

And there's a plot in there somewhere as well, which I'm also sure is fairly homosexual.

But may I just say that this bit- Repair upstairs and write Malta!fic, using notes made earlier in the day- has me in absolute raptures. I *crave* Malta!fic, since there are so many HOT ASS men there at the moment. And Lobelia!Malta!fic?

Better than any chocolate trifle dessert. :)

The plot is brilliant! I loved the plot! It's Citizen Kane twisted into something squeeishly intelligent! Ewan is a fucking genius. And there's lots of delishbish boy-on-boy action, too. And a dancing penis!

*cringes* But no Malta!fic got written... *begs forgiveness*

having failed to go to Tesco's again -- fourth day running -- due to call of LJ, I wish you luck on that one.

This is my last frozen pizza.

And all I can say is, either your living room is very tidy to start with or you are are inputting the temperature (in Fo) rather than the cooking time for your microwave meal.

No, it's that my tidyness threshold is very low.... *grins*

i saw velvet goldmine a long time ago and have no idea what the story was all about. i think jonathan rhys-myers is very beautiful. i hope this movie doesn't get you to leave the LOTR fandom *cries pathetically*

The story is very, very clever and intricate. But leave Lotr? Not yet, Bunnikins!! Velvet Goldmine doesn't have subtext: it's all out there already - they kiss, they fuck - what's to slash? Just to revel!

I'm going to watch it again this very night with t'hubster. I think it's really a brilliant and very clever movie. Plus sexy as hell. And no wonder you remember Ewan on stage: that scene is fucking genius.

By all means, rent again. You may not like it, of course (although the pretty-boy kissing and loving will guarantee *some* satisfaction, heh), but I really, really liked it.
