talk about obscure pairings! how did this one come about?

Started out as a Domorli which I began to write last week but somehow didn't make sense. The two wouldn't click in that situation. But it kept on nagging at me and I thought, who? Who? Who is it?

I ran through the Boys and the Men and suddenly, whoom, there they were. And it all fell into place and made sweet sense.

I love it when fanfic does this to me. The Muses! And despite my Orlish drooldom, I do love writing the rare pairings.

and you do it so well too. past imperfect is one of my fave stories. i was skeptical going in, but the way you drew the entire story with words just sucked me in and made it very believable.

oh and i was wondering, what sort of response have you been getting for boring!Orli? i know you got one negative e-mail, but i hope that hasn't put you off writing more, especially with such a cliff-hanger as him rolling about on the floor with johnny and viggo on the way over from the airport!

Well, this has been interesting. You know the LJ response of course, it's there for everyone to see (my little club of adorborors, *g*) but I was unsure of my reception on the lists so I left it for quite some time before posting there. But it's been rather positive (except for the one shocked person who did, after my assurances of being an Orli-drooler, apologise, actually - so that was nice if odd) - some of it of the 'you're mad but we like you' variety, and others who say it makes a refreshing change from the usual Orli.

Of course, being me, I started this series as a way not to angst and just to spew words on out there, but now of course, I'm starting to *worry* about it and having to live up to the fb and all that shit that I always get myself into. Hence the not-having-continued-it. Am a bit stuck. Otoh, I could be stuck for philosophical reasons: because now that Orli's taken the interesting-drugs, what does that actually mean? What makes a person *interesting*? As opposed to nice or obsessed or intense or confused? It's actually quite tricky. Because boring!Orli isn't awful, obnoxious, stupid or insane. And when he turns interesting, the rest of his personality doesn't change. And isn't boring in the eye of the beholder, anyway? So, ack, this ridiculous story line has now got me all tangled up!

But it's been very nice to get positive fb. I am amazed at it.

oh dear! yeah, i thought boring!orli was supposed to be a bit of fun for you. too bad it's causing you grief on all sorts of levels. maybe if you leave it for a while, all the worry will fall away and you can just enjoy the creating of these insane characters.

i can't wait to see what you do with boring!Orli now that i know what you're thinking. imho, taking drugs doesn't make a person less boring, but of course you also have the side effects from the not!wart ointment as well.
