I am so touched and happy! The amazing and sweet [livejournal.com profile] beccaming has made me a picture, a cover illustration for The Desert Prince. I am beaming with delight and gratitude.

I've seen pictures and graphics and banners that others have been given, and I was always a tad envious and thought, wouldn't it be lovely to have something like that? And now I do!

Thank you, thank you!

I am just beside myself: I love the background, that mosaic effect, and the meander pattern halfway down. And I love the art-nouveau, Mucha'esque format and use of contour. And I am mesmerised by my *name* (*blushes*!!).

Am working on Desert Prince, too. Have written two more fascicles but I want to let them ripen a bit overnight before I post.

It's simply beautiful. I'm always in awe of other people's skills with pictures, I couldn't do anything with them to save my life.

I've read Desert Prince but haven't gotten around to comment it. Bad me. *hides*

Isn't it breathtaking? Why won't Photoshop do that for me??

But it's very nice to get it as a present, too. ;-)

Re reading and fbing: as [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray once told me ages ago: there is no obligation to feedback. And there's enough guilt going round irl, imo. So: turn around, Elijah!

It's mesmerizingly beautiful. I especially like the way it's done like a book cover. Wonderful!

wow! that's a gorgeous book cover. i love Orli's robes and the abundance of curls and the middle eastern oriental sort of feel to the whole thing.

Yes, that Oriental feel is wonderful, isn't it? Eastern without being too specific. And the robes!

Not to mention the hint of chest beneath the robes.

Becca, I do hope this means you've got over your shyness and that you are reading this thread, justifiably adoring of your talent and skill...

Isn't it just? But she's still shy! *lays gummibear trail*

(Or should that be Lakritz?)

(Or possibly cardamom-and-coriander jubes?)

Thanks Jenn, and thanks Lobelia! It's true that I was awfully shy about this, but now I've done it and I'm glad you like the result! Gummibears will be sufficiently fine bait to lure me out of my silence; I've just spent to whole last day partying and concert-going before the back to school mayhem starts, so that accounts for my quietude! I'll write a longer e-mail to you tonight, Lobelia, I do want to thank you for your kind words. And the icon you made of my pic looks lovely! :D

PS: About the non-specific Asian/Middle Eastern appearance... yay, I'm glad you like it! I couldn't figure out exactly what period and province we were dealing with, so I decided to go for a general look. And I'm also glad that you like the standard bookcover appearance. The story's certainly good enough so far to warrant being published with it's own title art. :)

*snort* Well, we must just agree to differ on the publication front thingy but the general Eastern look is spot on. I did delve into an atlas last year when I was starting to write this and figured out where I *might* want this to be set, just to get a general sense of geography and topography, but then decided, no, this is AU all the way, and if I bring in geography, I must bring in history, and is this dated before or after Islam? and where do the Crusades come in? That got too complicated -- it's a fable, after all! So I'm revelling in the pastichey non-need to research! All I do is look up exotic fruits and such. ;-) (It is based on a dream, after all, and dreams know neither place nor time.)

Okay, I amend that, they do know place and time but it sounded good in the sentence, *g*.

Ah, but dreams transcend all! Space, time, reality, even proper research! I am a full advocate of your approach. I also have a WIP fairy tale/fable going on, though it's Western-based and not lotrips. However, research is a bore. On with the pretty words and pictures!

Speaking of... a) yes, I really do think that all modesty aside, your leisure writing is publishable, and I know I'm not alone in that thought, and b) I see that you have another installment up (which I shall fb properly in due time), and that the suspense is building and building! Where is the Great and Terrible Karl?! and c) oh shit, this means I'll be wanting to draw you more stuff, doesn't it?

:)
