Just for interest's sake, who is happy with the new LJ default skin "xcolibur"? And who has gone to the switch skins page and switched back to the old "dystopia" layout?

I myself, after two days offline, was shocked at the new layout. Above all, I couldn't get it too display sans-serif, and I hate seeing Times New Roman on-screen. I am a pathetic creature of habit, even if it's the ugly old purple-and-orange "dystopia" stripe at the top, so yup, I switched back.

i like the new layout because there's less clutter. sure, you no longer have the sidebar which has all the links handy, but with 2 clicks, you're back to where you came from, or you can hit the 'back' button a bit. i'm going to give it a shot. plus it's a nice soothing powder blue.

I just don't like the Times New Roman font it seems to inflict on me. I've changed all my preferences and specified 'override any font set by the page' in my browser preferences but it stubbornly insists on Times.

All the pages. On my browser, the entire xcolibur is serif. And I can't make it go away. So I scuttled back to Dystopia and hey presto, it's Verdana. (Do we *all* love Verdana here?)

oh! i have a customised lj layout. maybe that makes my xcolibur comments page sans serif... ? i'm actually partial to fonts with serifs myself.

Thank heavens, I thought I was the only one who doesn't like the new look. *wipes sweat off brow* And I prefer purple and orange to uni-blau any time.

I see no blau. I just see white. *puzzled*

*puzzled right back* It's blau all over. (and I have lost my ability to formulate proper english sentences, it seems)

One other downside of the new lj is that you can't save the pages any more, except as source code.

Scratch that. It must have been lj at the time, now it lets me save alright.

Did you use to save them? I just memory them.

Also, perhaps mine is not blau because in my Explorer preferences I've specified a white page. But that doesn't work for all sites.

*still puzzled*

I save fic postings of other people before they are archived or sent to lists, which often takes some time. And rpg posts. Never thought of making them memories. *scratches head*

When you say 'save', what do you mean by that? I save every fic by selecting and copying and pasting into Word. Is there a faster method?

Well, I'd say it's a little less complicated, at least, if not much faster. I don't know, what kind of browser do you use? In AOL or Internet Explorer, you can just save websites by clicking on "Datei" (er, not sure about the english equivalent here, it's the button on the very left, on the top), and then "save" or "save under". You can choose between saving the whole website, that includes pictures too, or just plain html, which I prefer. This works with most websites, but I believe paranoid webmistresses and -masters can put up a pretection against it.

Oh, I know that function! I had just forgotten about it. I guess I like having everything in word without the LJ tags and menu and whatnot there. And in nice Verdana font.

I like the cleaner look. It took me a while to find the second-level menus, but stuff like advanced search is cool.

I hate Times font in browsers too, but am not seeing that, so I'm fine. Have you checked your browser preferences/options? Maybe you got switched back to Times as a default font?

I've been using the xcolibur version for weeks now, and I like it. The Times New Roman shouldn't be there -- I only get that when things have slowed way down on LJ, like a default that it goes back to occasionally when things aren't loading properly. It looks much better with the Verdana font, so you might give it a few days and then try it again.

I like the menu's down the side of the old one. With the new one it's not so cluttered, but it's all so big. I feel like I'm reading one of my Gram's large print books.

You are gonna tell me what you thought about The Truth About Demons after you watch it right?

I've been meaning to make a post about Truth Demons but rl caught up with me! The short version: scared shitless plus drooling over Karl makes for a very strange experience.

After being all shocked and fumbly for about a day, I'm finding I prefer the new layout. I'm not seeing any font changes, and everything is bigger (I'm blind as a bat) and blue is my favorite color!
