[livejournal.com profile] natasha1805 and I were wondering: What do German teenies type into their 'Handies'?

In other words, what *is* the German equivalent of 'omg wtf liek lol 111'??

I'm German, 22, and I'm STILL wondering what they type into their "handies". When *I* was a teenie, I didn't have one! :)

fett krass would be a poor equivalent. Maybe visit a German chatroom? *grins*

They might very well type "omg wtf lol". :) I don't think there is a German version of it. They use "lol" and "Imho" and stuff like that because they know it from chats. Shame really. They never bothered to make up a German version. Esp not since (for example) "omg" could be short for Oh mein Gott, so the abbreviation would be the same.

He, I never though about that before.

Hahahahha!

Nooooo. I try to think of expressions.

Wtf would be "Was zum Teufel...???" which is quite accurate. Some say "lach" (lol). There's no real fangirl squee sound. Maybe eeeek. *shrugs*

Swearing is a whole different thing though. Don't even get me started. Heh.

There are some expressions like "Was geht?" (What's up?).

Can't think of anymore right now!

haha. I think I'll just use that. German just doesn't lend itself to abbreviations very well, does it?

they type into their handies, because they send short (180 characters) 'text-messages' to each other via their mobiles. it´s called SMS = short message - system. short messages which can contain anything you can thing off.

In other words, what *is* the German equivalent of 'omg wtf liek lol 111'??

that´s harder to answer. i could translate it, but we don´t use stuff like "omg" (oh mein gott) or wtf. maybe something like, "ach du scheiße", but i´m not quite sure about it.

hope i was able to help though.

Whatever they type into their handies ... it probably makes as much sense as omg wtf liek lol 111, anyway.

See, this is my first reply here on your LJ. And I'm being disrespectful to my own past. *shakes head* Err. Please, tell me it's ok.

Btw, where did most of your Orli-icons go, hm?

In my twenties, not even owning a handy, always hated teen-speak /end disclaimer

But I guess it'd be something like "Voll fetter Oberhammer." or "eh, krass, eh." oder einfach "ohn' scheiß. echt krass."

Now I have to go find bleach for my brain. *gags*
