Stories that I have read recently and liked a lot:

Siren, by [livejournal.com profile] gabbyhope.
Dombilly. Simply and superbly stunning. It meanders and flows and it is one of the best uses of pure metaphor I have read. This is now my favourite by Gabby Hope. It resonates for a long time.

In the Name of Research, by [livejournal.com profile] azewewish.
God, I love this fic. Somehow, when Brenda gets her writing claws into Harry/Karl, sparks fly. This is all about the dialogue and it is brilliantly funny and subversive.

Crimson, by [livejournal.com profile] viva_gloria.
Potc fps: Barbossa/ Sparrow. This is stunning. It is the best fic I have ever read by Gloria. It is plotted nigh perfectly, and has brilliantly convincing voices for both Barbossa and Sparrow. It's still lingering in my mind.

Snooping, by [livejournal.com profile] cupiscent.
Lovely, lovely Dorli. Features Keira as voyeuse. This is beautifully written and beautifully imagined. Sort of soft.

Wipeout, by [livejournal.com profile] sagralisse.
Viggo/Karl. Extraordinary tight control of bdsm'ish activities, and somehow lean'n'mean and sweet all at the same time. Very sexy. (But I do like the old bdsm...)

Reading Glasses, by [livejournal.com profile] cimorene111.
And here I was thinking only Brenda could do really good manly domestic fic. But no, Cimorene has written this, and it's simply lovely.

What you get, by [livejournal.com profile] supacat.
Viggorli. I don't like Viggorli but I like this fic. Very, very real and also a bit unusual.

Turning Forty, by [livejournal.com profile] crazybutsound.
A not-run-of-the-mill Dombilly. Real and melancholy.

untitled non-fandom slash, by [livejournal.com profile] piran.
I was drawn into this. Tight and evocative and full of allusion.

plus some I nominated in my Nominations post but just want to rec them here again

Viridian, Vermilion, Alizaria. by [livejournal.com profile] novanumbernine.
Wingfic. Amazing. Beautiful prose. I nominated this in my Nominations post but here I rec it again.

Ditto Geometry, by [livejournal.com profile] novanumbernine.
Creeps up on you. Perfect characterisation.

Ditto. Illing, by [livejournal.com profile] hetrez.
Amazing experimental prose that *works*. It is Orlijah but don't let that put you off!

Ditto, Gym Buddies, by [livejournal.com profile] woodcliff.
Sweet and a hoot and what prose control!

Wheeeeee! I'm incredibly happy that you're reccing [livejournal.com profile] piran's snippet. Because God, I love her stuff and it never gets enough exposure. Thank you soooo much for that.

I'm also honored that you liked mine enough to mention it. Especially considering that despite not being entirely satisfied with it, it does happen to be my current fave out of all the things I've written. Thank you.

And also, thanks for all the recs! I keep bookmarking these posts to read the stories but never have the time or energy. Urgh. Will have to start tonight, then. Will make it my goal for the next three days: read a couple of stories a night.
