Well, it appears that everyone else is able to post quite happily, including long posts and fics and all sorts of things. Only I am confined to the two-paragraphs-only debilitating corner of LiveJournal, it seems.

So: still no Desert Prince able to be posted. It's only six pages in Word! I've posted heaps longer things than this in the past!

*grits teeth in frustration*

Well, I'll just have to post the icon all by its oddy knocky self for the time being then. *pouts*

Word quirkiness

Not promising this will help, but it might.

Sometimes when a document has been edited a few times, Word likes to store a bunch of invisible junk at the end, including text that you have deleted. Usually you become aware of this when you have a Word document that has a file size that is ridiculously larger than it should be.

(and, this "invisible" junk text is readable in Notepad/Wordpad, so that's another reason to be careful if you've written anything & decided you don't want anyone to read it, deleting it in revision...)

Anyway, the way to fix it is to do a copy from the 1st character to the last character only (not "select all"), and then paste it into a brand new blank document. Then save.

It may not be the problem you're experiencing at all, but it may help. Hope so. :)

I didn't even know LJ had data limits, but in posting my CCFP review, I learned all about the 4300 character-per-comment rule *laughs*

Thank you for this techie advice. I will test this option.

Although LJ is in general being painfully slow for me this evening. So I suspect it's some web overload. Perhaps people are all furiously posting stuff about 9-11??

I, too, learned about 4,300 characters! Heh. But that's not the rule for posts. Sometimes Explorer won't let me post something long but Netscape always does.

I will check my document, though, as per your advice. Leave no stone unturned and all that.

No, I just tried that. I did the copy and pasting thing. The document is now 36 bytes large. That shouldn't be a problem!!

*sighs in resignation*

It may be time to go and watch a Bollywood movie. I feel de-motivated to keep writing further fascicles. Maybe a 3 1/2 byte boring!Orli??

hmmm...ah well, maybe tomorrow. I suspect you're right about the 9/11 posting thing.

Oh, my icon is courtesy of the ever-wonderful beccaming, of course (click on link for the full version -- if you don't know it already, *g*).

You know I read your *cuddlepethugs* and for some reason read it as 'cuddle the thugs'. This, in conjunction with *your* icon was puzzling! But amusing!

How bizarre. I got an error message for this (see my post) but it seems to have posted it anyway.

I was looking up hinky in the dictionary so I could bolster my reply but got distracted when I saw:

hinkumbooby: chiefly Scottish. A singing game similar to looby-loo

teehee!

Uh, "hinky"...well I saw Elizabeth Hurley say it in "Bedazzled" ...
