... and I loved it!

Teaching is such a power trip.

Outfit worn: New Islington mini-skirt with zips and buttons, new hihg-heeled bootlets.

Compliments harvested: 4 and more.

Boost to ego: 150 decibels (or however you quantify boosts).

I want to see a picture, or at least be told exactly how short this miniskirt is!

So do I! I shall endeavour to take pix next time I see Lobelia. I feel all proud to have lured her into stylist retail therapy!

Well, yes, I keep thinking of the scene in the shop; you as Richard Gere, and Lobelia as Julia Roberts.

*screams for seven seconds without cease*

*smites you over the head with semi-colons until you beg for release with a hyphen*

I hate Julia Roberts. I hate Hugh whatsisface. I hate twee bookshop scenes in twee pseud-Britty-cutey films.

Note that I have *seen* this film. I am a masochist.

Julia's mouth is *vile*. She is a trollop.

She is not as Kajol is.

I just noted you said 'Richard Gere' and not 'Hugh Grant'.

Er, what film were you actually alluding to?

The thing that amuses me most here is that Cordelia was talking about Pretty Woman and you are describing Notting Hill.

Oh, and why only seven seconds? Is that how long you can safely scream before the boys wake up?

Julia's mouth is indeed 'vile'; both the aforementioned films are hideous; Kajol is gorgeous; I am using semi-colons especially to annoy you and thrill Cordelia.

Good evening, Lobelia!

You're all mad and I don't know why I let myself be lured into your evil cabbals.

To give with one hand (Julia = vile) and take away with the other (semi-colons!!). Really, my brain has now fractured into smithereens.

I don't have a digital camera. The skirt is about 18 cm above the knee when in seated position. It is a sort of grey-khaki denim, rather rustic, but the bottom hem part (around 10 cm) is ribbed cotton, sort of khaki-rust colour. There are diagonal buttoned up flaps to each side at the front, and *zips* down the side which can be *open* or *shut*.

I love the zips. They enable bicycle riding while retaining stylish looks. This is important when taking children to school on tag-along. It becomes less crucial when picking children up in pouring rain, having changed into dowdy jeans-and-trainers look and stuffing sopping child's bike into the boot.

Weather needs to be constant for wise wardrobe decisions.

Aha! I was thinking it would be shorter. If it is 18cm above knee when seated, it must be not much above knee when standing. I was thinking of it as being very short, and was thinking, well, if Lobelia is going to wear a very short skirt, so can I. Now all strength I had gathered from your short skirt wearing has been sapped. I will just have to do with a slightly longer skirt, which is probably for the best. I have asked Laz, and she claims that such girlie musings are beyond her.

Laz is out of her brain because these are not girly musings, these are post-partum womanly musings on how to keep the beast of decrepitude at bay. The skirt is more than just above the knee when standing. It must be relative to my leg length or something. It's not a just-the-bum-covered skirt but it's not a mid-length stewardess thing either.
