I lectured on Saussure's blob diagram, Ogden's triangle of signification and Peirce's icon/index/symbol. I drew diagrams all over the board and *colour-coded* them, too. In the seminar, the students got carried away and talked about psychology, philosophy and God.

A great success.

Film lecture less good. But oh well. The clips were fun. I showed: Cabinet of Dr Caligari, Bicycle Thieves, His Girl Friday, Rashomon, Strike (by Eisenstein), Triumph of the Will and Pierrot le fou.

Congrats, hon! It sounds awesome. Anyone who can engage students when talking theory deserves a medal--not that I don't love theory, but it's a bitch to teach.

Heh. Maybe it's the different fields we're in. I'm art history which is usually (in our traditional dept, anyway) very hands-on and formalist. So I love teaching theory because it's so different to what the kiddies normally do. Also I'm such a semio-slut. I could bore on about indices and paradigmatic axes all day.

And also, *wow*. This is my first Thamiris comment in my onw LJ, liek, evah! omg wtf 111!! kewl

*falls over*

*plans more semio-seductions to lure commentrixes into threads of doom*

Oh, thank you! First Kajol comment! Yes, sadly my quest for Bollywood-slash remains unfulfilled. But undaunted I forge on through the google-woods.

You've fallen for Bollywood also? I've started watching 'Namaste America' which is just too much fun for me to watch. I miss my old workplace because I had two co-workers (one from Pakistan, the other from India) who used to come to my office all the time, sharing movie titles and passing music along to me. I used to be up on what was going on in Bollywood.

I'm on a quest to find somewhere around here that shows Indian movies. I'm sure there is such a place, given the divevrse area that I'm living in.

I will add that one of my current favorite songs is 'Tumse Milna' from 'Tere Naam' (which is a romancey romance, but Bollywood all the same).

And though I will say that a lot of their movies focus on (het) romances, there are a lot of slashy moments. Oh... and the dancing! ;)

Meep, a fellow fan!

Meeeep!!

That is, a fellow fan who also moveth in the slashoid circles and not only in the Asian-fan circles.

Meep again!

I *have* found *one* slashy pic of Salman/Hrithik but I can't upload at the moment nor post anything long (techie probs).

I fell in lust with Bollywood about 3 months before I discovered slash. It's the only thing that keeps me tethered to the world of het.

And I am an abject lover of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. And am at this very moment (virtually literally) watching Mother India on video: see, I'm so in lust, I've even branched backwards into the *classics*.
