I've decided to reward myself for my hard first teaching week by decadently going to see a movie on Friday *in the daytime*, while the kiddies are at school.

So, which one should I see?

1. Matchstick Men (Ridley!)
2. Young Adam (Ewan!)
3. Ned Kelly (Curls!)
4. Some other film

Ned Kelly of course. Because I haven't seen the other two, or in fact 'some other film'. Nearly went to see Young Adam last night but decided I wasn't in the mood for bleakness.

Is Young Adam meant to be *bleak*???

Very good, very bleak, sex approximately every 5 minutes. According to my reliable source.

I may possibly need to choose this one. It's the sex wot dun it. Because I can drag t'h to Ned Kelly (his Australian roots!!), and he wants to see Matchstick Men, too (Ridley fan!!) but he does not like Ewan.

Is the sex with other men, perchance?

And is the Ewan-penis *out*?

I'm assuming not. I think my reliable sources would have let me know had this been the case.

And is the Ewan-penis *out*?

Well, the word 'cock' was heard to reverberate around the sheldrake kitchen immediately following viewing of movie by housemates. So I think it would be safe to assume so.

NED KELLY!

I saw Matchstick Men (precisely because, well, Ridley!) and thought it was okay. I'm sure Young Adam is good too. But, curls! Cuuuuuuuurls.

And he's Irish in that one, too. :D

You are *so* his half-sister.

*lifts jug of ale -- or whatever they drink over there... guinness?*

*displays deplorable ignorance of Irishicity despite being married to man who traces roots back to County whatever*

Uh, only in that Deep American South sense of the word, I should hope. Because I often feel distinctly unsisterly towards the poor dude.

omg orlando, buy me an ice cream cone! take me to a movie! drive me to school! bro!!!1

...actually, we still don't know what ethnicity he is, is he? I don't understand how he was born so dark and lovely, based on that pic of Colin Stone that surfaced a while ago.

...whatever, everyone's a little bit Irish!

Mmm, guinness. Australian for what Irish people like to drink.

The Deep South sense of the word... the place where genealogical trees don't fork.

And Orli's ethnicity: surely very, very English. Ye Home Counties Englishe. I see quite a few Orliesque types on the road in Cambridge, actually. Not as pretty, but the same *type*. You don't see this type in Germany. Or China, for that matter. And some English do go very brown (Jane Austen's "olive complexion"!).

4. Some other film

No pretty men is a serious drawback. I think I need to see copious sex and/or t'curly one on my day off. So that narrows it down.

imma be a killjoy and say matchstick men, actually, cause well...yeah. my original reaction was to say: SEE NED, cause i CANNOT because it is not available yet in this farking country and ONE OF US has to see then, yeah? and orlando is there sporting the abe lincoln facial hair and. yeah.

but then i thought of sam rockwell, whom i love more than my right kidney.

but if you still see ned, i'll more than understand.

SAM! CURL! KIDNEY!

*mutters to self* damn, ella, way to make a good first impression on her.

*First* impression?? Er, more like 23rd... surely? *coughs*

I'm starting to narrow it down to Young Adam because t'h is amenable both to Ned Kelly (he's Australian!) and Matchstick Men (he's a Ridley fan) but dislikes Ewan. Also I am lured by the promise of copious sex.

But we will see. Maybe t'hubster will not go out with me for days and days in which case I cannot wait that long for t'curls.

And on Sunday I'm seeing a Bollywood remake of "E.T.". *falls over*

Matchstick Men.

It's Sam Rockwell, it's Ridley, it's a really smart script. *nods* And Nic Cage is actually pretty fucking good in it.

I was thinking, after posting this, that t'h would actually really like seein M Men and will prob also want to see Ned Kelly (he's Australian!) so if I choose a film to see on my own I may be left with Ewan.
