My misleading last lj-cut caused nobody to read .

For those of you who took some interest in my teaching angst:
I've now taught the cool boys. Only 3 of them turned up plus the girl and the mature woman. It's not an easy group to manage. I think I did the best I could with them but the group dynamics are not automatic givens and it's going to be a struggle for the next few weeks. I want to take them to a cafe next week but they might think I'm making them pay an entrance fee to the seminar. And alas, I can't afford to buy them all coffee!
Well, that's all my ISP will allow me to post these days so: end of haikuish post.

I'm sorry to hear it's gonna be an uphill struggle, but I understand how difficult group dynamics can be in the classroom. I bet things will resolve themselves given time. I just hope your students don't split into factions!

How many are meant to turn up? Is there an obvious reason why they didn't come, like the lecture being at 9 am, or the building being a long way from anywhere?

I also want to know more of the group dynamics.

Well then that surely is an excellent non angst start. They all turned up. I am impressed by how professional you are being; you actually care about the students.

Nearly all of the colleagues I know care about the students to a ridiculous degree. Especially as some of them don't deserve it. Lazy bums that they are.
