I never thought I would rec HP. But then, while my opinions are strongly voiced while I hold them, they are also (as you all know, and especially [livejournal.com profile] lazulus, *winks*) flexible and amenable to sudden and violent 180 degree turnabouts.

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] lazulus and others have recced this one for so long that I finally succumbed yesterday afternoon. 224 pages in Word and I was glued to the screen for hours, and then re-read it all today. I am hooked, I am smitten, I've been dreaming of this fic.

It's [livejournal.com profile] resonant8's unbelievable and breathless-making Transfigurations.

It is beautifully written, beautifully plotted, has an ethical centre where canon has an empty hole, is thoughtful, inventive, expansive, intensive, painstakingly characterised, weaves in and out of canon exquisitely, and finally, is most deliciously sensuous, erotic and hot-damn sexy.

Am still reeling from this novel of a fanfic. (Note: it's the longest fanfic I've ever read and it took me a while to get into it: give it time and it will grab you. Well, it grabbed me.)

Firstly: Thank you SO MUCH for the TMI. Which really was TMI!

Secondly: It takes a strong person to achieve 180 degree turnabouts with any type of dignity.

Thirdly: Yay!! Am so thrilled you loved transfigurations! It really is class. Now you have to go read Second of Our Reign by Wax, which is probably my favourite HP fic.

The Wax link is broken!!!!

And I ♥ you for having persisted about this reccage. It only took a few months! :-)

And whirling me around, ooh, quite makes my head spin. I love dancing, actually, and I'd love to learn ballroom dancing. And it reminds me of that scene in Transfigurations where they make the bear and the bunny waltz through the air together...

And there's even more tmi where that tmi came from, and it has to do with fanfic's evol influence, but I'll leave that for another tmi moment...

to achieve 180 degree turnabouts with any type of dignity.
Dignity?

*looks around; slips in puddle of drool* I can't see any. What does it look like?

Wax link! Sorry, somehow some extra characters got added on the end. *glares*

I have previously had convos with you regarding fanfic's evol influence on your sex life so am beyond being surprised.

Well, it's kind of hard to describe...

Thank you! Got it, downloaded it -- wow, "only" 42 pages. God, HP writers really go for the novelette approach, don't they?

And best of all: now we can talk about these fics together!

You did! And you beta'ed! And you kept telling me about how the fans were actually improving on JKR! I thought of all that as I was reading... until I forgot to think of it and just swooned in admiration.

Now I want more recs!

I am SO PLEASED.

That really is a masterpiece of writing. I've read it so much I think of it as canon now. It's one of the few fics where I can copy with the characterisation of Harry.

OMG YAY LOBELIA!

I take it you mean cope?

Hach, it reads like canon. It should be canon! Forget the summary of Ootp, btw. What do I care about that? I don't even *like* the books -- especially numbers 3 and 4. They are heartless, soulless, without moral fibre.

I'll just read the fanfic instead.

Any recs?

"Claimed" was over 500 pages in Word & you read that. *grins*

What's the pairing of the HP fic?

And you loved it, too! Heh, it might take me some time to get around to these things but eventually they grab me... *g*

But ack, I didn't say the pairing on purpose! Because I read it without knowing and it crept up on me and one of the pleasures was discovering what the pairing was going to be through the subtlety of the writing.

Can I delete your comment so that nobody else gets spoilered?

Yes, but a WIP *feels* different. Because it gets printed out over time, for one. :-)

Yeah, I'd say go for it. Only reason I wanted to know is that there are certain things I just /cannot/ read in HP fandom & this particular pairing is one of them.

However, I believe you when you say it rocks & rolls. I'll let you enjoy it for me. *grins*
