Grr

I seem to be back to the 32 words per post limit. So here goes a chopped-up post:

For over a year now, this has been one of my favourite songs on my favourite-songs-tape. It makes my innards tremble and it *is* the beach scene at the end of When the Cat's Away, where Dominic and Orlando kiss for the first time (and other things). I still remember sitting downstairs at the laptop, 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' at top volume and on a continuous loop, getting up now and again to dance around the room to it, and being very excited because my darling D/O were about to get it on.

So this song is imprinted on my brain.

So today I borrowed from t'library the BFI video Bollywood and Beyond, and omg, it features a clip from the 1998 film Dil Se, and the clip *is* the 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' song sequence, and it's got Shahrukh Khan on the top of a speeding steam train, dancing with hosts of men and women incl. a scantily clad love interest and zooming dreamlike through time, space, hills, tunnels and trees...

It's like my personal fantasy come alive and somehow disgorged into the world in equally phantasmatic form.

*subsides into speechlessness*

I now need to see this film.

I know this Robert Palmer chappie died (but I don't know who he is nor that song he sang -- and here I was thinking I'd be alive during the 80s).

But much more importantly: Edward Said died on Wednesday!
