We're all okay. T'h left Cambridge on the 8.45 for Kings Cross, was in Kings Cross just as the tubes were cancelled, walked up to Russell Square where he was giving a paper at a conference and came upon the bus whose top was blown off just minutes after it happened. Bizarrely, he went to his conference because what else to do? He walked to Finsbury Park and caught various trains and made it back just in time to see our phenomenally handsome and star-of-the-performance son's last few lines of his end-of-primary-school play (he was evil Sheriff of Nottingham in 'Robin Hood'). But I had gone to buy tapes specially and video'ed the lot. I was so anxious for much of the early afternoon because I knew he had been in the vicinity of that bus at the crucial time and I couldn't get hold of his mobile because all the lines were busy. Also, my job's up the spout again but I'm just so relieved that t'h's safe and back home.

However, in my anxiety, worry and anger I did manage to write a whole page of rather good prose for my Introduction. Just because this seemed now trivial compared with everything else.

I feel emotionally exhausted now and must fall into bed. I hope everybody is ok.
