On Saturday night, I made chocolate mousse. T'h cooked borschtsch.

On Sunday, we set out nibbles for ten. Six guests arrived. T'kids jumped on the trampoline. T'h cooked leek, mushroom and tarragon risotto. One of the guests printed out his poetry and read out his poems to us. These are really old friends of t'h's mother (who died 9 years ago); they are Australians and it was really, really nice and relaxing. It was lovely to remember that there are things beyond money; academe these days tends to twist everything into a money matter. The greatest thing about fanfic is that it is entirely not out for pecuniary returns. I love that.

T'guests left and immediately 4 other guests arrived. Their sons were babysat with our sons while we adults went out to dinner. Somehow, we have become these social dervishes.

Thanks to Flylady, the kitchen was pristine when I got up this morning!

Also: this morning we drove to look at some kittens. Yes! We are getting kittens! When we come back from holiday in September, we are getting a little black boy with white paws and a little black girl. They are teh cute. T'family has already unanimously agreed to call the little boy Zizou.

Tonight, my sister comes with her 4 children. Life is a whirl. Now I need to go and buy food, then cook it, then make up five beds, then tidy, then write some wraith fic. I must also at some point write my book and do my module booklets. And buy a present for my sister! Argh.

I am annoying t'family by threatening to support Chelsea. They form a solid Arsenal block and t'h claims that t'family must show solidarity in their club supportness. Um... what??? Hahahahah. I was obsessed with football decades before these relations of mine hopped onto the bandwagon. Not with club football, admittedly, but heh, it is fun annoying them. Whenever they go 'ooh, Arsenal, Thierry Henry, Jens Lehmann', I go 'Ballack! Shevchenko!', and then they go, 'evil billionaire owner', and I go, 'phw.'
