3028 words! Who'd have thought it? *marvels*

I'm of course behind. As one has to write the magic 1667 every day if one wants to trot along. So I should be at 5002.

But I'm not aiming for manic output this year just putting in the time. And if you put in the time, sometimes you get a bonus of words!

Amazing.

Soon I will post the extended version of my report on the Arvon creative writing workshop in Yorkshire.

For now, a brief summing up.

Wot i learned:

• Writing makes me happy.

• Writing is hard.

• Even when writing is very hard and is not making me happy at that particular moment, it makes me feel right. It's okay to struggle and find it tough, because writing is important and worth the struggle.

• Having a space with no internet access and a threadbare carpet and a wooden school desk (Schreibpult!) with a slanted lidded top and an attached wooden chair is conducive to devoting oneself to writing.

• Writing a novel is not the same as writing a short story.

• I love hanging round people who love writing. (I guess this one I knew already :-) )
