Happy first of advent, everyone!
I managed to buy a wreath just in time. England isn't so passionate about advent so the decorated wreaths weren't available yet in the market. I remember when I first moved here in 1991, there weren't any wreaths at all ever and one had to reserve one at the mid-November German Christmas market.
But now we have an undecorated pine wreath around which I twined some red ribbon and into which I stuck four stumpy candles. We lit the first one today and ate nuts.
I haven't yet got round to getting advent goodies. You can't get marzipan potatoes in England, and there are only selected stores in my town where I can get butter stollen (I do not like marzipan stollen) and Pfeffernuesse and other German goodies.
I may try and remember to go to church one of these advents. I'm not a member of any church but teh family is Catholic and sometimes it's nice to sit somewhere for an hour and have a tranquil time. Although sometimes the incense baloney also gets on my culturally Protestant nerves... *g*
