absurd icon poll

I am a luddite. (A person from early 19th C. northern England mining towns who wanted to smash the machines. Well, you know what I mean.)

I come back from overseas and

a) my Friends page has been defaulted into S2 and I can't get my oldfashioned S1 back and am so confused I can barely read anyone's posts in the weird serif font I'm landed with; (look, a semi-colon!)

b) everyone has five million icons and I don't recognise anyone anymore.

People, you cannot *have* 50 moods! I can't cope if everyone looks different every time I log on. I will have to go to no-icon default (*if* that still exists...) to save my poor brain.

To counteract the current icon craze in true perverse mode, I'm going to use default only for the next while (except when posting a fic which always gets a fic-themed pic, and except when posting in bollywood).

So, what default shall I use, eh?

I nearly went for the snapper, which I like a lot, but I chose Ned Kelly in the end because it's probably the one I identify most strongly with you.

I have yet to succumb to the icon-buying frenzy, as you can see.

I have noticed this and been relieved at familiar duck and finger in glass and explosion thingy.

I am getting rather fond of snapper but it is true: icons stare straight ahead in symmetrical hieraticness, and maybe a fish in profile is less apt.

Am off to have lunch and read your vampire story! Am so excited! All those comments are like the pronunciations on the backs of dust jackets by noted Guardian critics and the like.

i'm with sheldrake on this one - the ned kelly one reminds me of your lovely fic, and also because, in my state of dementia, it reminds me of Orli.

and yeah, so far i am resisting getting an extra 40 icons. after i got my Orli mood icons, i'm quite content. i'll probably succumb, though ...

O god, the Orli *mood* icons!! That combined with 50 Orlis in icon-form....!!!

And what state of dementia recognises Orlando in Sidney Nolan's Ned? Maybe the snapper would do in that case. Has that fish not got Orli's curls???
