In other news, I am making slow but sure headway on the bloody Viggo-fic. I like about half of what I've written and not the other half, and I've written about two-thirds. So, what with scrapping the half I don't like and writing the remaining third ... um, I can't do maths but that's where I'm at.

Also, to help me, have dreaded visual aids on my desktop so am actually staring Viggo in the eye for most of the day! He's all right, actually (in the fic, that is); he's telling me all right things. Just a bit deluded.

But 19%... mwuahah. What I want to know is what elicits 100 %; then I'll go and change my name by deed poll.

17 1/2 hours to go till kick-off. I had withdrawal symptoms last night and actually watched the 1970 Brazil vs. England match, shown on BBC1. Lady M. found this 'sad'! I was transported into history -- a dizzying sensation. V., v. strange. The past is a parallel universe.

(Heh, Viggo is making me deep.)

Hello! carefully timed to miss my 12-2 slot, I note ... but my meeting is delayed, so am spamming merrily away.

Very pleased to hear that Viggo-fic is going well. Seem to be in a creative phase right now, despite - because of? - emotional slump. (How does this all work, I wonder?) I have new fic of which last line doesn't quite work - sequel to Midsummer: Dreaming: some more Hugo/Viggo, some of which is really rather grim: and a ficlet-thingy for Jen, about gloves. (That girl is a pervert).

The past is a foreign country. They do things differently there.

And happy to hear, too, that Viggo Adds Depth. Verily he is as a god.

Stupid meeting imminent!

Hee, I watched that match too, and was transported back to a world Before I Was Born, even weirder, non?

And where footballers were proud to have combovers, proud!

Visual aids? ::shudder::

Ack, must have hit the wrong button again. This was supposed to be a private little email to Gloria Mundi, and now my secret thoughts are bared to the world. Oh, the shame, the shame.

But a propos that game: not only the hairdos (whoa!! and Bobby Charlton looking like a carpet salesman) but also the style of football (multo strange, like a combination of ballet and croquet, and such a lot of opponent-hugging!) plus the style of the filming! Weird editing, weird camera angles, weird hissing microphone. I was completely weirded out. And what *was* so great about Pele? (besides his v. impressive pecs)

Have taken to listening to Radio 5 Live where you can listen to football stuff even when there's no football on.

There was something else I wanted to say but I've forgotten that now.

I am proud to announce that the 1970 match was also before I was born (though not much before). Hence I can side with Demelza, for once. Yay!

Go you with the Viggo fic. You have such willpower to concentrate on writing ::sigh:: I truly meant to write last night, but ended up talking to Megs all evening and planning my life for the next two years.

And yes, you have probably been spending a little too much time with Viggo. I don't mind that, as long as you don't let him influence our next IM conversation and ask me lots of philosophical questions :)

How can you be proud of something as much out of your own control as your date of birth? Smug perhaps, snide, but proud??

Eck, must quash the last vestiges of youth-envy! 1962 is an excellent vintage!! And women are like wine: they mellow with age, haha.

And if I start asking philosophical questions, you can be sure it's not because of Viggo influence. The man wouldn't be able to formulate a philosophical question if you paid him, let alone spell 'Nietzsche'. (Now there's a challagne!)

Right. Right!

That's fighting talk.

And yes: imagine being born in the Seventies. The shame of it.

Well, I was born at the very, very tail end of the Seventies. I was only around for two months of them, so I can't be too ashamed, surely...

Oh, I have a soft spot for the old Seventies. Not quite as soft as the one I have for the Eighties, but soft enough.

And I never thanked you about your nice comment about my concentrating on writing. That really made my day! I just feel much better about both the day and the Viggo-fic now. Ach, if I've got to like Viggo, then I've got to like Viggo, and better to like the Viggo of my own creation, than some Viggo in another fic.

oops

Sorry, that made no sense. That thank-you post was meant to go to Lady M. and I hit the wrong button yet again!

But the rest was all for you!

I am not going to grace that with a reply :)

Ooops, just replied to the wrong person. I'm forever hitting the wrong buttons today. I meant to thank you for your nice comment about concentrating on writing (instead of which I thanked Gloria Mundi). That comment really made my day! Both my day and my Viggo-fic.

Yay! Can't wait for that fic, even if it is nasty about poor Viggo :)
