back on the line
Jun. 25th, 2002 11:35 pmLike Karl, I am back, shaken but not stirred. Reeling with withdrawal symptoms, I lurch back into the line (having been off the line for 4 full days).
The rel hell didn't turn out to be quite as hellish as anticipated (and I always anticipate the worst); it was in fact the nicest get-together with these particular rels I've had, possibly ever. My sister fuelled the football mania (she is the compleat fanaticke; she remembers off-side decisions against Costa Rica in the first round and suchlike) and got into my own Bollywood mania. And knowledge of my mother moved onto an unexpected new plane; quite unexpected and astounding.
I also went to London (missing Senegal vs. Turkey, argh -- my sister suffered even more and texted her husband every five minute to find out the score) --, bought some deliciously expensive cosmetic products and saw a movie at 4 in the afternoon (notLotR).
demelzagirl kept me sane with txt/, mostly of the Gary Lineker/Gary Hansen variety (moremoremore). And another delightful side effects of being off the line:
Real life provides good plot bunnies! In fact, every author should spend some time off the line every now and again: it does wonders for the old imagination. Suffering from cold turkey meant that every location we were in became a stage set for some slashy scenario. I wrote one entire brandnew fic in my head over those 4 days. It just isn't written down -- yet.
So now that I'm back on the line, my creativity will probably dry up again. It's those positive ions oozing from my monitor straight into my brain and sending it asleep.
Another interesting side effect: being with the rels 24/7 actually made me love my job! Today I spent hours and hours editing the stupid book I'v been shirking for these past 6 slashy months.
Also spent some time rearranging my extensive slashpic collection, however, in support of brandnew plot bunny... *g*

pops in, wide-eyed, carrying small dog in basket
Date: 2002-06-25 11:25 pm (UTC)Just thought I'd pop in to reassure you I know you're off line, and not ignoring me.
Could be wrong. ;)
Incidentally, that little scandal I alleged had already broken, has not as of now. In so far as no action has been taken vis a vis the problem membership, anyway.
