I just realised, driving to t'reference library in the car, that I have inadvertently mary-sued myself into being Karl's grandmother.

How did this happen? And did anyone else notice?

Ah, it's from that DP wip! You'll find out when it's finished and you finally get to read it. :-)

Are you saying the old crone is the Prince's grandmother? Oh, what tangled webs you weave!

Yes!!!!!

I wrote it, and then it took me about a week to realise! (So much for claiming it's a "cameo role"... The subconscious will do that to you.)

Right now, I am very afraid of your subconscious. *g*

The thing was I was so focused on a mother's anguish at her child being tortured that it escaped me that the mother was the mother of the son.

Now I'm left with that in my plot!!!

Ah, the joys of WIP's! I also just discovered a character I'm at loose ends with. If I had any discipline at all, I'd get rid of him, but I like him too much. Oh well. At least I'm not his grandmother. *g*

My line with the DP is: once posted it can't be changed. (Except for spelling and grammar.) So if I left something lying around on the floor, I have to live with it! Keeps me on my toes, that is for sure. A bit like rl.

Are you OK?

And you aren't getting DP beta-ed either, right? I think that's the only thing that's saved me from really major blunders so far; I have a very picky beta. She catches every inconsistency!

Are you OK?

Yes! Actually doing pretty well- except for a bit of a cold that I apparently will be sharing my time off with!

I've sort of gone off beta. I don't think I'll be using betas again. Long story and I'm tired but one of these days, when we actually get to speak *live*, I will bore on about it. :-)

Nothing against betas, though. I used to adore being betaed!

I'd love to hear why, but you're right- it's one for a live conversation. My only problem with a beta is that I have to be careful not to rely on her so much to catch my errors. It's easy to be lazy when she's so thorough!
