lobelia321Some people on my flist will remember the old Closer than Brothers yahoo list, and some will even remember the whole kerfuffle about CTB list versus Lotrps list, and then the whole debate about fic-only and excessive OT and so forth.
Still having residual fondness for CTB, I stumbled across these revised list rules today and was shocked. No wonder that list has deteriorated from its lively beginnings to the fic-morgue it now is.
Revised & Amended List Rules:
1. This list is for LOTR real person slash only. Het and character slash are not permitted.
2. Actor crossovers are permitted. For example, on this list, you can slash Orlando Bloom with Heath Ledger. Other crossovers are not. You cannot slash Sean Bean with Ozzy Osbourne (okay, that was bad, but it was the first example I could come up with…), etc.
3. There will be absolutely no flaming on the list.
4. Please send feedback directly to the author, offlist.
5. Please don’t post introductions. That is, obviously, first instinct when you join a group, but it’s really neither appropriate nor practical on this one, due to the number of members.
6. Off-topic posts are forbidden. If it doesn’t involve fic, fic discussion, or fic website announcements, chances are it’s too off-topic for the list. When in doubt, ask a mod.
7. PLEASE do not post fics that have not been proofread, preferably by someone other than yourself. This is a matter of common courtesy to other list members. If a story is unreadable, it will be deleted. This rule is not negotiable. If English is not your first language, get someone whose first language *is* English to beta.
8. "Netspeak" is not permitted, period. No one on the list wants to have to decipher it. Use proper English or refrain from posting.
9. Proper headers should be included at the beginning of all fics. They are as follows:
Title
Author/email
Website
Pairing
Rating
Summary
Content/warnings if needed
Spoilers
Disclaimers
Archive rights
Any sort of brief author notes
10. Author notes should be kept *very brief*. Please do not post excessive dedications, netspeak, a detailed list of your betas, or any other extraneous information. Keep it short.
11. Proper warnings (rape, character death, squicks, etc) MUST be included. There will be no exceptions.
12. Both members of a pairing MUST be listed. There will be no (VM/?), or anything of that nature. It doesn’t matter if you want to keep the other party a surprise, some people are massively squicked by certain actors and deserve fair warning if that actor is in the story.
13. Fics involving characters under the age of 18 are NOT permitted. Writing a minor character as being over the age of 18 is STILL not permitted. (e.g., posting crossover fic involving Daniel Radcliffe, however adorable he may be, is absolutely forbidden.)
14. Posting fics to the list for people who are not on the list is forbidden. If they want their fics posted here, they need to join the list. If they are not old enough to join the list, they can post it elsewhere.
15. Forwarding fics off the list is not permitted. Anyone caught doing this will be unsubscribed and banned.

Sean sighed. "I don't know. How about you retrace your steps, then maybe you'll remember."
"Good idea, Simon." Ozzy turned and opened the door to leave. Then he turned again and frowned. "Oh, I'm sorry."
"What now?"
"I know you get mad when I don't kiss you goodbye." Ozzy leant over a very surprised Sean and kissed him. Slowly, even tenderly. Sean wanted to protest but no, he couldn't, he was too shocked and, well, maybe he was even enjoying it.
Ozzy pulled away. "OK then, see you, Sharon," he called cheerfully, and left.
