Date: 2004-04-15 12:44 pm (UTC)Anything with 'shire' at the end is mildly amusing, I find, and must be pronounced as 'shr'. I irritated t'h t'entire way by pronouncing every placename I encountered in absurdly abbreviated form. Half the time I was right, though. Hee.
Shropshire, though, is lovely. And Herefordshire even more so!
