origfic drabble
May. 9th, 2004 09:07 pmI just posted my first drabble ever to
badgermonkey's wonderful writing and reading discussion forum.
lazlet and
sheldrake and I were talking about the need for challenges to kickstart origfic-lust only yesterday!
badgermonkey is way ahead, as usual.
So here's my very first drabble ever:
Title: 100
Author: Lobelia
Email: lobelia40@yahoo.com
Category: Origfic drabble
Author Notes: My very first drabble ever. I had vowed never to write a drabble but Badgermonkey can make me do anything. Written in response to Badgermonkey's drabble challenge. Time taken: approximately 4 minutes and 45 seconds. Last-minute search-and-replace 'I' to 'we' after realising that the challenge required *two* characters (cheating is my middle name).
-----
"One, two, three..."
"Seven, eight, nine..."
When will the sun shine?
It is very dark. There is no more light. If we stop counting, time will stop. It is important to keep track of time. Counting to ten takes approximately ten seconds. Counting to 100 takes approximately 100 seconds which is one minute and 40 seconds. Every time we stop to think, time slips by unnoticed. Unnoticed time is dead time, not killed time. Killing time is something we used to do. Now we need to create the seconds and the minutes to keep time alive.
"Ninety-eight, ninety-nine, one hundred."
