Join it, fic it, link it, lick it.

Oh, and does anyone know why yahoo groups are suddenly getting spam? And what to do about it? I've just been deleting messages and banning emails but what else to do? Vet new members?

have modded several yahoogroups in the last few years and as far as i can tell it's always been a problem. seems like some groups go unnoticed by spammers for a while, then once they're identified they get bombarded. i've had to go on pending subscriptions on almost all the groups, manually weeding out like suspicious membership requests. usually the spammers are easy to identify: they don't have a yahoo profile and they have addresses like coierty435876@yahoo.com. this technique has worked well in my experience.

Thanks, this is useful. It promises much boring weeding work but I guess it's to avoid boring reading work. Ack, weed not read. *dies of pun*

if you check your email at least once a day it's pretty quick work even with several groups. shouldn't be too bad. it's kind of satisfying, actually. STICK IT TO THE MAN! :)

It's true! I have already derived satisfaction from banned the fucks who spammed the list.

What am I thinking? That was hardly a pun but a rhyme.
