It's a first! I dreamed about Orlando Bloom.

It was even more explicit than my dream about Brad Pitt though somewhat less satisfying. Because Bloom, though deliciously curly and into bondage (!), revealed himself to be a clit tease of the worst order and pissed off in the middle of the dirty deed.

All of this inspired by t'h's addiction to the crossword. He brought home this.

And the Telegraph also ran this lovely picture of Orlando/Kate and it was probably the image of heterosexual bliss that tipped me over into wet-dreamland.

I really, really liked this picture! I haven't liked a picture of t'curly one this much in ages! I think it's because it is proof positive that he has a life of his own, untouched by fandom hysteria, and that he is his own man, existing (mysteriously) independently outside of the fevered imaginations of fanfic.

*heaves happy sigh of relief*

Also, the interview was quite sweet, and I like Chloe Fox.

*goes off to slash Draco*

ETA: Make that: *goes off to do some marking* 'tis that time of year again.

Ooh tickly moustache! ;)

That picture of Orlando/Kate Bosworth really strikes me because in the Gap ad with Kate Beckinsale, he was holding her hand in that exact manner. I have never never never ever seen that body language before. Must be pure Orli!

Kinda sweet, though. For a youth. Kinda *young*, for that matter.

*feels maternal*

They're young! They're in love!

I want those shoes.

And I don't mean Orlando's.

Thank you!! These pictures are so sweeeet! (pronounced as Kajol pronounces it in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai)

P.S. However, I'm not sure I quite approve of them having been taken. I wouldn't like to be snapped by secret snappers indulging in youthful rompings.

I'm not just off Orlando Bloom (as I was never "on"), I'm completely irritated and annoyed that he even gets to have a career. I think this is where our crushing paths diverge...;-)

I'm so sorry darling, but yes. :-( You still love me? Because I really think he needs to leave the screen and let talented actors take over. Someone with less striking good looks but real actual acting worth. Sorry! :-(

I certainly don't claim that Orlando's talented. But he works hard enough for his career (he's been working non-stop) and he trains hard enough for his roles. I'm glad that he gets casted and I'm happy for him that he's got a job/a career.

Is it his fault that actors with good looks are rather casted than talented actors? I don't think so. I don't begrudge him his success.

i'm with piran. i'm happy he has a career - he has worked very hard and he has come a long way acting-wise. i think he did a good job with what he has done so far. i actually liked him in troy. maybe other people would have done better, but hey! Orli seems like a really nice person, and i too don't begrudge him his success.

See, but I really don't think he has come a long way at all acting-wise. Yes, he's dedicated and he seems nice, but being nice and dedicated doesn't necessarily make a good actor. *shrugs* I just really, really don't like him, and I really feel like he's built his whole career on his looks so far. But hey, if he can prove me wrong, I'm all for it. The day he delivers an outstanding performance not based on his curls and body, I'll be the first one to clap.

And I promise this is the last ramble I post in your lj, Lobelia, I'll go to mine next time. :-)

Ah, but that's the tragedy of career!Orli and why (in my universe) he intersects with melancholy!Orli (my two favourite Orlis): the higher they climb, the harder they'll fall, and looks don't last forever.

What these photos made me remember, however, is that there is an Orli outside my career!, melancholy!, whateverexclamationmark!Orlis, and I liked that.

Well, yeah, I see your point, but he's all over, here. He's on every cover of magazine, he's on every show, he's all people talk about on my flist... and gosh, he annoyed me yesterday so much! I used to like him as a person because he is adorably clueless and enthusiastic at times, and he seemed nice. But I just don't like his acting. He acts like he's doing theatre or something, breathing his lines with a lot more emphasis than he should... I'm not saying he doesn't work, and sure, good for him that he has a career. Ultimately, I realize it's not him I'm annoyed and angry at but the people who cast him just because he's pretty. It bothers me to know that there are dozens of young actors out there who work just as hard but don't have the smashing good looks that even I have to admit Orlando has, and so no matter how good these actors can be, they won't get a chance to show their worth as long as people will keep looking at what an actor looks like before they look at what an actor can do.

I really think that both Orlando's training and his abilities would make him a very good theatre actor, I'm just annoyed to have to see him in movies. Take "Pirates", for example. You of all people know I love that movie, but he's so annoying in it that now, I tend to want to fast forward through his scenes when I watch. Or at least fast forward through his dialogue.

My problem isn't that I think he's not talented. If I think about this, I have to admit I think he does have some talent, just not the kind of talent that justifies the success he's encountering. Now, he may very well prove me wrong in the long term and improve his acting, I'm not saying he could never be any good at anything, but right now? I feel that he's so... I just think that he doesn't yet deserve all the gushing and praise he's getting compared to what dozens of other young actors can do. I think he's very highly overrated.

But I'm not stubborn, and the day he gets a real deep dramatic part and does it justice, I'll be the first one to bow down to him. Right now, though? I want to see and hear about other actors, please. Ones that have already shown greater worth and yet, ones people never talk about.

And the reason I'm being so harsh about him is mostly that he's gotten to the point when hearing or seeing him on my TV or my flist makes my skin crawl with irritation. But that's a very irrational reaction, I know. I just really, really, really don't like him at all anymore. I never really did, but right now? Seeing a picture of him gives me a rash. Tastes, you know? Plus it's PMS time, so... annoyance tends to be tripled. Don't take it personally, darling. I'm not going to think any less of anybody for liking him, I've just come to a point where I kind of loathe him. It'll pass. In a few days I'm sure I'll be indifferent again. Right now? I want him off my screens.

Now I can see your point. But when you said Because I really think he needs to leave the screen and let talented actors take over I thought What?!!, because it always makes my skin crawl when someone tells another person to give up their dreams.

Usually, I'm not taking a step back from the opportunity to diss Orlando's acting ability or the clothes he's wearing. And I know how it feels to want to tear out your hair after seeing a picture of Orlando, because you just can't see him anymore -- I went through the same phase. Well, I don't know how or when it passed, but I hope yours passes soon, too, because your kind of reaction to Orlando sounds horrible, heh.
And that's why I won't mention him around you anymore (for the next few days ;-).

I just think that he doesn't yet deserve all the gushing and praise he's getting compared to what dozens of other young actors can do.

And no one coerces you to join in the gushing. Maybe tolerate him and give him a chance?

Why crushed by career? Because of minimal acting ability? In that case, there would be many without a career!!
