Now what do you mean by working "with"? And which David is reversed?

i shall check for you on monday, though i have a feeling it is probably not the painting. the sculpture resides in my place of work. i think i have now blown the virtues of cyber anonymity. may i ask what ispired the posting of bronzino?

Well, I already knew where you'd been a student because I was there last May, remember? And I may well come to the halcyon halls of the NGA at some point during my professional life so I'm glad you've blown your cover because how stupid would it have been if I'd turned up there and wandered the corridors and had lunch in the cafeteria next to you without ever being outed???!

I might have noted telltale signs of office fetishism on your desk, of course. Small figurines of the David hanging off one of those businessmen's toys. Monaghan mousepad. Stapler in the shape of Orlando's penis. Um. Well.

*coughs*

What inspired the Bronzino icon? I've been deleting all my Lotr icons because I'm a bit sick of lotrips so I was casting around for some film-neutral icons and I tried out the Jawlensky (the Alexey Sacharoff) but somehow it wasn't right, so I remembered how much I loved the Bronzino and checked it out, and then I remembered Pollock. I surfed around for a nice Andrea del Sarto or a Pontormo but the web didn't yield anything usable. Little did I know I was throwing out office-ennui lure.

Now I'm dying to talk shop but won't because this is a public forum and oh, we do like our secrecies.

work was a bit of a madhouse so i havent checked yet but it is on my list of things to do tomorrow. you should come visit - i will give you a behind the scenes tour including the ed wood xray machine. you can email me at office_ennui@yahoo.com for shop talking. i was never a fan of the old masters until i started my new job but now i am a bit enamoured. bronzino is lovely. i have magnets of frodo and aragorn on the xray machine saying lude things to remind me of trivialities and a giant cut out of ewan mcgregor in eyeliner, so you were spot on about cloak and dagger detection of my desk is mine. i was lured in - though i am amazed i have not let it slip earlier. speaking of slipping, what inspired the lotr spring cleaning? you can respond in secret to that as well...

the sculpture is not reversed but seen from a sever (proper) right angle in the painting. i also found an xray from the 1930 of the face of mr. handsome almost in the proportions of your icon. it revealed no major changes and very little damage. you have turned my very boring and toxic project of the week into a very exciting act of unexpected discovery - thanks so much!
