I have just finished reading the most gorgeous, beautifully written, moving fic; it is, of course, Night-blooming Heartsease by [livejournal.com profile] julad.

The prose is simply beautiful: simple and beautiful. The timing is exquisite. The locations are wonderful. The sex is entirely unusual, entirely banal and entirely breathtaking. And the characters... god, they are unbelievably good. This whole fic is hard-to-believably good. And it made my eyes fill with tears.

I'd try and include a quote here but I don't want to give anything away.

i love you. this was an amazing rec, and i don't read HP, and I especially don't read Neville HP (while I'm not sneakily reading HP), and this was wonderful. I need a day or two to think and FB the author, but I'll definite do that.

Isn't it just? [livejournal.com profile] lazlet recced it to me, and her recs are nearly always 100 pecent dependable. But this one blew my mind. I'm still not over it. I dreamed about it!

I have given up pretending not to read HP and not to have by-now-more-than-rudimentary knowledge of fanon... Well, once you've ogled over Tom Felton there's not much hope left.

But Neville: yes, I am not a Neville fan. Neville bores me. Except not this Neville!!

Yes, I can see that. Orli, in sepia!!

Were you involved in this? Do you recommend reading?

Am not usually into collaborative rpg'ish fics.

Ignore the previous. I'm half asleep. Of course, I know you were fucking 'involved' in this; I read that snippet of yours which I loved.

But the others were written by others, no??

Aye, other characters are written by other writers. I write Lando and Harry. Yes, I recommend it. I know how you feel about rpg-type fics (I remember talking about it with you), and this may not be your cuppa. It's not an rpg, not exactly. There is a definite story arc here, beginning middle and end type story, though it's not totally realized yet, of course. It does still contain the back and forth POV of traditional RPG's though, and I know some people find that POV swinging to be distracting. We've tried to minimize the dissonance of it, smooth it out, which has worked fairly well, I think, because the writers working on the project are all very trustworthy, and thus it isn't a problem to write one another's action on occasion, making it less strictly back and forth.

You might give it a try and tell me what you think, if you've got the time. I'm most definitely interested in the opinion of someone who I already know doesn't really care for the format, and I'm always interested in your opinion specifically, as you've got a good eye and a good mind, and nearly everything you like, I've liked. <3 Thanks for looking at the page, at the very least.

I will try. My additional problem is, of course, that I've gone off lotrips. But this being an AU may help me over that hurdle... *g*
