natasha1805 expressed surprise at the revelation that I find it comforting to fantasise about Dudley and Draco and that I do it endlessly. I believe she said something like scary...!

Hm. I have been living in this fic for so long that I have quite possibly forgotten how the rest of the world thinks. Isn't the Dudley/Draco entirely obvious, inevitable and all kinds of hot?

But perhaps you're all obsessed with the Dudley/Harry. And I wouldn't blame you, given this canon evidence:


OOTP, chapter 1:

'Think you're a big man carrying that thing, don't you?' Dudley said after a few seconds.
'What thing?'
That — that thing you are hiding.'


Yes, I know they're supposed to be talking about wands... and a wand doesn't have anything at all to do with any part of anybody's anatomy that might be hidden and confer on you the confidence that you are a big man. Not at all. Zilch.

And then there's the pillow talk and the moaning:

'...Is his ickle boxing champ frightened of nasty Harry's wand?'
'Not this brave at night, are you?' sneered Dudley.
'This is night, Diddykins. That's what we call it when it goes all dark like this.'
'I mean when you're in bed!' Dudley snarled.
He had stopped walking. Harry stopped too, staring at his cousin.
[...]
'What d'you mean, I'm not brave when I'm in bed?' said Harry, completely nonplussed. 'What am I supposed to be frightened of, pillows or something?'
'I heard you last night,' said Dudley breathlessly. Talking in your sleep. Moaning.'


Dudley = breathless. Dudley = remembering Harry's moans. Slashy or what???!!

And then Dudley starts talking about homosexuality, I kid you not:

' "Don't kill Cedric! Don't kill Cedric!" Who's Cedric — your boyfriend?'



So I do realise that the canonical evidence for Dudley/Harry is much stronger than that for Dudley/Draco. But hey-ho, since when have I been a slave to canon?

They're so rare they are preciouss. In all sorts of ways. Today, after a suitable bout of fantasising, I found myself doodling their faces on the back of a bit of a paper. The icon does not do Dudley justice, alas. He is blond, he is blue-eyed. He is big, he is beautiful, he is Muggle! And he is mean. And mean is spice to the slashy mix.

Plus, he's really well-hung.

(Well? Any canonical evidence to say me nay??)

Well, I suppose that Draco and Dudders do have a lot in common with their seething hatred of Harry. And Dudley is well-hung! Could you please point me to the canon evidence for that? *smirk*

And if you weren't such a canon rebel, I hardly see how you could avoid slashing Harry and Dudley. :P

Yes, that's it! Now it comes back to me; that's how they bond! No, I know: I thought about Draco and his mates (Crabbe, Goyle) and they're both big guys, and Dudley, too, is a *big* guy, and Draco *goes for* big guys, he does! In an original version, he gets fucked by Crabbe; I may or may not retain this for the final version. And Draco and Dudley both hate Hagrid. And they both did not like their time at boarding school. But by the time they get together, Draco doesn't hate Harry any longer, actually - well, in my fic, anyway.

Draco hates Muggles, of course. But such are the hates that slash is made of!

And Dudley is well-hung! Could you please point me to the canon evidence for that?

Erk. I have about half a chapter ready to go to beta. It seems that the longer this fic gets, the longer the chapters get. I have so many characters now, that it's hard for anyone to get a word in edgewise. I did join that comm for finishing WIP's by month-end, but I'll be glad if I can get one or two chapters off to beta.
