I liked this a lot, and, being an only very occasional reader of HP slash, though am well-read in canon, it's a pairing that (a) had never occurred to me and (b) would have made me wince if it had. I have a weakness for the quietly impressive, and this was absolutely that.
PS When are you going to unveil your HP fic? Is it an epic?
I'm so pleased you liked this. It really is a very good fic by any fandom standards and particularly intriguing for HP because very unusual because of the pairing (as you may have guessed, Crabbe/Goyle is rather rare and a specialised taste -- although they do have their own community as they are virtually canon [in my view!] but HP is such a vast fandom that a community of fewer than 100 members counts as rare!) and because of the understated, non-crack way they are written, because of the unusual inventions for Malfoy Manor and because of the psychological subtlety of the relationship with Draco.

I have written quite a lot of words on this one (I won't go counting them because it may turn out to be more words than I have written for my article and book and then I will feel guilty and appalled) but as it keeps growing in my head, I think what I have amounts to only about one fifth... But I have a second beta now and she is promising to whip me into writing.
