Dear Friends, Friends of Friends and Snowflakes Drifting In from The Blue Yonder Web,

I have been thinking (spurred on by something that [livejournal.com profile] eyebrowofdoom said over two years ago and something else that [livejournal.com profile] childeproof said about fifteen minutes ago). I have been thinking about writing experimental fic and about how I used to do it and now how I don't.

In order to help me clarify what's next, whether to go back to being dare-devil or whether to forge on to see if I can even write a straightforward plot, I would be grateful for experimental fics-recs.

So please, everyone, recommend 1-2 fics to me, fics that experiment with prose or with pov or with tense or with whatever else. Can be any fandom, can be origfic, can be het or gen or slash. And the more experimental, the better.

The fics don't even have to be febulous. Of course, high quality is an extra bonus but for the moment, I just want unusual things to provide inspiration.

All recs will be gratefully received.

:-)

i think i can rec every single fic i use as examples in my postmodern fanfic post. can't say much about the ones linked in the comments...

for me, flesh mechanic is utterly amazing; sandy's as lucid a really neat use of author intrusion (rather than the more wish fulfillment of we go to middle earth and get to fuck the elves :-), and pogrebin's work is consistently impressive. even if you know nothing about ds, i think you might like the document challenge.

i'd *love* to read some experimental fic...there istoo little of it around!!!

hope you like...and don't know all of them..y'know that pomo and ff is my special little thing, right? :-)

and while not all pomo is experimental and not all experimental is pomo, i think the intersection is pretty big.

how are you btw? after earlier this week, i feel like i haven't talk to you in ages :D

Two of those I downloaded, the others weren't plot-ficcy-wordy enough (the ones that consisted mainly of one picture). But the Walking Shadow one looks interesting, as does Sandy's. Then I remembered [livejournal.com profile] thamiris's fic so downloaded two of hers. [livejournal.com profile] viva_gloria has also written quite a bit of experimental stuff in her time. And there are recs on my recs page but I want new stuff!

I've been fine, on and off. I actually started writing my book which was good. I am also still in a torment about secondary schools; the decision has to be made by next Friday. I am also somewhat bored and frazzled after a day in with t'kids when I wanted to be doing other stuff. And feeling a bit strange in the wake of my job interview. Thanks for asking. Also, I realise we haven't been out for what must be months, i.e. t'h and I. Sometimes life can be just too domestic. When I start watching Bollywood films, it's a symptom that I want to escape.

I meant to ring you on Thursday night but then that never happened due to another school open evening, and then last night was Bonfire Night and tonight is well, it's tonight now. Oooh, are you ringable??

The most experimental piece in the HP fandom for structure/timeline I can think of is Arkady/[livejournal.com profile] wired_lizard's A Half a Conquest (http://www.skyehawke.com/archive/story.php?no=193). Hope that goes in the right direction of what you're looking for...

Thanks so much! I do have certain types of fic in mind but I deliberately kept my request open because I want to open my own mind!

I do. :-) I really like Illing (it's on my recs page). But you know, I'm so glad you reminded me of Diptych because at the time that was posted my computer played up and then I forgot to go back toit!

*hurries away to read*
