[livejournal.com profile] thamiris reminded me of how much I like Andrea del Sarto, and then I also remembered Pontormo. And while image-googling those two, I also came across the "Gallery of Intact Penises in Art" (sic!).

The stunningly accomplished Andrea del Sarto: juicy, makes it all seem so easy, perfection of the well-turned wrist:

Oh, and Pontormo's youths: to die for!

And here's another Pontormo boy, without and within context of wall fresco:

Oh, and here's the absurd but strangely compelling Gallery of Intact Penises in Art. Ignore the dreadful spellings and facetious pseudo-information: just focus on the dicks!

Note: Page 5 of the 'Gallery' announces Gollum's penis but provides no pic! Well, you saw it here first, of course (years ago now... *g*). Gollum uncut:

I apologise. It is a bit of a sharp drop from the sublime to the ridiculous but could I resist? (Note the Duck looking cute in the background!)

Good post. I'm also feeling pretty low tonight - things have been spiralling... um, anyway, this has at least managed to distract me out of my own head a bit. Thanks. Nice youths!

Hope you start to feel better soon.

Oh, same to you! I'd send good vibes except I haven't got any. :-(

:(

Me too. If I find any I'll save some for you. I'm going to bed now or I'll just be sitting here spiralling all night and that would be very not good, because I've got to get up tomorrow. Good night, my dear Lobelia. xx

No. A 'survival of the discipline' thing. Explaining why there are no students and hence, soon will be no jobs.

It was fun, though. Despite the gloom'n'doom. Somehow external gloom'n'doom and gloom'n'doom shared with others helps to dispel personal depression doom.

I particularly love, of all things, the font in the first del Sarto; the winged figures look like...Well, I'm not sure, exactly. Some conflation of the med/Ren female Serpent and a more conventional demon. Interesting, either way.

And how sad is it that I've already been to the gallery of intact penises? My penile obsession knows no bounds.

Omg, those winged figures look so bizarre. I hadn't even properly noticed them. They are truly nightmarish. The underbelly of the beautiful humans above.
