it's finally happened
Dec. 14th, 2004 11:06 amIt's been anticipated but when it does finally come, it is a shock. Art History has been axed from my university.
I feel bruised. What to say?
I looked up my contract last night. It says they have to give me three months' notice. Everything is uncertain.
Here's a wonderful painting by Anselm Feuerbach as consolation:

Anselm Feuerbach, Abschied der Medea (Medea's Farewell), 1870, Neue Pinakothek, Munich

Date: 2004-12-14 11:09 am (UTC)Hope there is a good solution to this, a silver lining just waiting to be found: wish I could nip forward a year and see you looking back and saying, "Well, if that hadn't happened ..."
Hope everything clarifies itself as soon as possible: meanwhile, shall think good things in your direction.

Date: 2004-12-14 01:39 pm (UTC)Perhaps I can convince my little brother that I need an art historian "assistant" so I can er, "better understand his business." :-) (Quick, what do you know about the insides of pianos? Unfortunately, at this time, I can't afford you at more than $2 per hour.
I do hope this gives you the opportunity to find something more rewarding and less frustrating. *hugs*

Date: 2004-12-15 02:56 pm (UTC)Those ill-educated heathens don't know a good thing when they see it! They're all fat seamy men in suits getting hideously over-excited at the idea of courses about Business Marketing and Systems Analysis and other unintellectual crap.
