i heart huckabees

It's been two weeks since I saw this film (I Heart Huckabees) and what with all the job threatenings, I never got round to posting about it!



It is a brilliant film. I went for Jude and stayed for the entire wonderfulness of it. It's about philosophy and Big Questions! It's script-driven! It's gorgeous!

And Jude is to die for. There was one shot where Iiterally could not look directly at him; I had to look at the person standing next to him. He was just too beautiful. He dazzled me. He is the Marilyn Monroe of today. She had the gift of turning on her star quality, and he has that, too. He can just light up the screen with charisma. Even t'h came home and announced, 'Lobelia! (well, he said 'real name') This film confirms your theory! Jude Law really is the most beautiful man alive.'

But all the actors and actresses are stunning in this. Isabelle Huppert! My god, middle-aged and sexy as nothing! Mesmerising. Lily Tomlin, Dustin Hoffmann - all brilliant, brilliant.

And it handles serious themes so lightly. I came out in such a good mood. It made me love film all over again, it's that sort of movie. It does things to the medium.

Simply wonderful.

a) the acting ability
b) the bone structure
c) the depth that maturity brings (hah! I cling to that one!)

*hangs head in shame* i am..cc is cassie claire, the most notorious writer in all of HP and possibly all of fandom. f-w is fandom wank, where we basically laugh at ourselves/each other.

after the laptop thing recently (which was only the last in a long line of issues surrounding CC...justified or not), a new anonymous hate thread has taken over yet again with central sections circulating around a picture of CC (who managed to convince the Nimbus organizers to forbid all cameras in the room when she was in it or something to that effect)....olts of nasty old wank that is like watching train wrecks in slow motion...you're disgusted with yourself yet can't look away :-)

I have heard of Fandom Wank but I never go there (have never been, in fact) because it mostly seems to upset people and I don't like being upset.

And I have heard of Cassie Claire. Hm, let me just check my hard drive for fics. No, have read none. Is she the one who wrote one of the very first lotr fps 'The Diary of...' thingies? If so, I read those and thought they were okay but wondered what all the fuss was about.

Why is Cassie Claire so notorious?

The film is about philosophy. Guy hires a pair of 'existential detectives' to figure out the deep questions of his life. Then a whole lot of stuff happens that I can't really reveal without taking away the fun of watching it. Jude Law plays a businessman, employed by the firm of Huckabees. I heart Huckabees is their advertising slogan.
