outage? what outage?
Jan. 17th, 2005 01:32 pmThe Great LiveJournal I did not even notice there was an outage on. I was probably too busy SHINING MY SINK. Brought to you by geek-foo |
Oh, Dr Sackville-Baggins, will you shut up already about that bloody sink?

Date: 2005-01-17 02:33 pm (UTC)I don't believe this.
Did I tell you that I dusted the car's dashboard today, including those hard-to-get-to cavities where the indicator joins the steering wheel? 11111111
Have you got my little giftlet yet?
WHERE IS YOUR LAUNDRY?
Mine is part on the drier and part in the washing machine. Well, at least I know where it is! And the drier is actually empty ready for the washing!!! AND the reason the laundry is not in the drier is that I ran the dishwasher and in our house, if we run two appliances at once, the fuse blows.

I continue to be amazed. And this week we're doing the bathroom! I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to decluttering another zone! (And using the word 'zone', eek.)

Date: 2005-01-17 08:41 pm (UTC)Actually, my laundry is DONE. I probably won't have to do any for at least three days.
I'm excited about the bathrooms, too. Pathetic, I know. But mine look horrible, and are the biggest reason I Can't Have Anyone Over. So yes, I too am looking forward to this week's "zone."

Date: 2005-01-18 02:13 pm (UTC)I'm so glad you exist and pointed me to this website and are SHARING THE SINKSHINING! Because otherwise I'd be truly convinced of imminent insanity a la your icon!
At least somebody else understands how one could get excited about zones (without any irony!). My bathroom is actually, amazingly, okay. But then there's 'the other room' which is the laundry which I'm frightened to go into.
I have twice as much laundry as you, I suppose (what with the children) so my laundry is not done but it's sort of on a regular cycle now so that's something! (Babysteps, babysteps.) Do you read all the 'uplifting' emails as opposed to the nagging emails? Testimonials and Martin Luther King and suchlike?
Ack! And it's 10.30 pm and the children's lunchbags are packed and the SINK IS SHINY and the dishwasher is on.

Do you think this is good for depression, bad for depression or neutral?

Date: 2005-01-18 02:48 pm (UTC)Of course you'll have more laundry with the children. I remember growing up, that my mom had laundry going all day every day with four kids!
I do read some of the uplifting e-mails, if I'm in the mood for them. The testimonials do help in the sense that I usually realize that someone out there is even worse than I am, house-keeping-wise. I read the MLK one yesterday, and among other things, it confirmed my suspicion that Flylady is Southern. So as far as I'm concerned, she might as well be from another country! :-) I don't want to stereotype, but southerners do tend to be more traditional when it comes to keeping house and male/female roles, etc. And the "bless your heart" thing is totally Southern!
Yes, it is good to have someone to share the insanity with, isn't it?
I think this helps with depression marginally. I've had a run of bad days, but even so, I've managed to do at least a few things each day, which makes me feel at least a tiny bit better.

Date: 2005-01-17 02:29 pm (UTC)Now to apply this method to my academic life. What is the academic equivalent to a SHINY SINK??
Tell me!!!
