In other news.
60 percent turn-out in Iraq is not bad at all, considering.
T'h and I are emotionally drained. We fell into bed at 9.30 last night and slept till 7.45 this morning. That is over ten hours! Reason for this: t'son sat his private school entrance exam yesterday. I had to be cool and chilled when face to face with t'budding teenager but behind closed doors, tears welled, and t'h was in tears, too, and altogether we were being utterly ridiculous proud parents. This reminds me of the moment when, aged one, t'son stacked nine wooden cubes into a tower, and the health visitor said, "Oooh, I only expected you to do three!" We immediately rang our parents to tell them that our son was a genius!!! Ah, parenthood. *feels exhausted*
On the Stepford front: the house is getting cleaner by the 15 minutes! I'm still on the wagon. I SHINE MY SINK religiously. I declutter: I've stuffed 30 Sainsbury's bags full of clothes. I discovered I owned thirty undies. Now, I have 30 undies because I keep buying huge amounts, labouring under the evidently quite false belief that I haven't got any because I used to spend ten minutes every morning hunting an undie out throughout the house. Hah, no more! I decided 14 undies is the maximum a woman needs, and actually, probably 5 will do for day-to-day recycling and the rest can go in a remote cupboard. Because I actually do the laundry now!! *falls over*
I know, Stepford blah-de-bore, but only those of you who have lived for twenty years in filth and chaos will understand the relief and delight I feel! T'h, energised by my continued cleaning frenzy, washed all the windows today, doing his back in in the process by clambering in and out onto the roof through a tiny aperture.
Tomorrow: 'faculty' day in the stunning hub of East Anglia, that metropolis of amazingness, none other than Chelmsford. Ooh, yes, excitement all around. I get to fucking drive there because... well, I won't even go into it &$£%^&**%@(_&1111111

Plus, I seem to have acquired an overnight ability to do the Times cryptic crossword!! T'h has been doing them and left one in the loo, and lo and behold, two answers popped into my head there and then. T'h was astounded!!!! He thinks this will provide a good basis for our retirement.
